I appreciate it. And I appreciate how you do your best to keep the drivers moving. A certain planner should be routed out to your office for retraining because it feels like he does the exact opposite. As far as catching up...pretty much SOSDD...you know, me whining and crying :)

That was posted since I checked last.

-just called them about the PODS ad that was posted on 2/15. Apparently some of the reviews about them posting ads for jobs that don't exist is true. They currently don't have any openings in my area, even when they posted an ad for Lake Butler (which is 15ish miles from the house)

Well ####. That’s annoying that they post jobs that don’t exist. It doesn’t seem like a bad gig. Pods are yard to yard, almost zero customer(general public) interaction. It not quite 24/7 drop and hooks but if you can load and unload yourself that would be almost better because you’re not fighting the trailer issues that come with drop and hooks.

that was pretty similar to my last gig hauling stone before I came here. I would leave before we opened and usually get back after we closed. Loaded and unloaded myself at the yard and left the paperwork on the counter. Not bad but 600+ miles days in a daycab for $800 a week, even in 2015, was ######## money.

Here’s bossmans old truck, and even the load I was referring to. We used to haul 19’6” wings from Tulsa to the port in Savannah before they shipped the whole operation overseas.

I swear, since WTF-I took over payroll, I have had more ####ups on my pay calculations sent to them out of Arlington. Last paycheck I was missing tarp pay, this week I got that paid, but now I was due 2 days layover, I only got paid 1. I am half tempted just to deadhead to Toledo and tell them to shove this truck and this job so far up their ### they'll have to pick it out of their teeth.

I looked into DOT foods. Only opening near me is Jax. Up to $85k/yr and must live within 50 miles. So, that a no go on both.

As far as Wilson, the only Wilsons I could find are the one associated with Prime and another that was recently sold to Central Transport.

Might be for the best, DOT used to break down their own loads instead of using lumpers, at some locations that’s a lot of extra work and time…

Interesting, well it’s good you are leaving because one of the cost controls will be salaries it’s more Wylie style work for general freight. As I said I’m aware of aggressive rates being offered by TFI helping start a race to the bottom. It’s sad to see it impact a decent company like SPD, it makes me glad I work for a family run company who at least for now have leaders who want to run the family business.

And SPD doesn't pay any kind of extra for delivering to the 5 boroughs of NYC. In 30+ yrs of trucking I have never worked for a company that didn't compensate extra for venturing into purgatory. So much for the b.s. about them "appreciating all we do"... Arlington shows their appreciation every year with a driver appreciation hat or hoodie, that's it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... don't believe their b.s., if you thought about coming here, don't walk, run the opposite direction. And that goes for any of the SFI companies (formerly known as Daseke)
