Saw a SPD(Wylie/W-TFI) step deck the other day with an Indiana trailer plate. And now, @kylefitzy, you say they're changing to N. Dakota registration/plates? That's what, 3 states in 4 years? WA, IN, now ND. I wonder if it costs extra when you have to replace the metal rather than just renewing the existing registration. For a company trying to streamline costs (cutting off paid parking, no more equipment purchases on the road, etc.) they seem to like investing in new license plates.
And I saw a SPD hauling cable spools the other day. Glad I missed out on those.

The only plates we changed were going to IN truck plates at a Daseke level. Trailer plates are permanent and the new trucks have nd plates. Any other truck registration is easier than Wa because they require an original cab card, not a copy, and they have physical stickers for the plates. That was a pain in the ### every year. Now we just get emailed new cab cards.
As for the cable reels, they are gravy. They load right down the road for the LA yard. According to a guy I talked to you pull in, put 8 chains, 4x4’s, and coil racks on the deck and get back in your truck. They set up the racks, load the reels, and put your chains through the center. All you do is bind them down and go.Walk Among Us, hotrod1653, wulfman75 and 7 others Thank this. -
The step deck trailer I saw had an Indiana plate, kinda caught me off guard because I was use to seeing WA plates on SPD trailers, didn't recognize the driver, but I only saw a handful of regulars.
I never had coil racks...with the truck and headache rack I had, I won't have known where to store them. -
I don’t carry them either but like I said, it’s right down the road from the yard. The locals had the timbers and racks loaded on the trailer when the other driver got there. I hear that yards a well oiled machine. Ain’t that right @The Block Robert?

Yeah those are trucks that we ordered to replace some of the very old glass fleet trucks to run the PNW with.ElmerFudpucker, hotrod1653 and Lonesome Thank this.

They resemble the new Wylie 4 axle i see loading at the port every day. I'm wondering if Wylie took some for their fleet. Explains the light weight pusher and steer axle. I'm hearing that they have a lot of issues getting weight to the steer/pusher axle because they don't have enough neck on them new rgn's. A couple of the former Bulldog drivers say they ain't the truck they need for what they are trying to accomplish.Winnyf1, ElmerFudpucker and Friend Thank this.

sounds a little like how they handled the wing fleet's equipment at SPD.

Ive seen a handful of cotc trucks in the pnw with that scheme and pusher axle.. thought it looked good at first but knowing the iconic moss green cotc is gone forever is a bummerFriend, Lonesome, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this.
