Just FYI they will reimburse you for ink and paper, but not the printer itself. I wouldn’t want to do what I do without one.

I'll have to check to see if I saved the receipt then...thanks!
It says on the TN permit that the load needs an amber beacon that is visable 360°. Do the strobes on our tractors satisfy that even though it isn't -on- the load/trailer (I keep my trailer tail strobes on all the time as well as the cab strobes)D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Almost none of our trailers have 360 strobes. They just have the ones mounted next to the tail lights. I’ve Never had an issue. When you go to Tennessee read the signs as you’re pulling in, they will say to park out back and walk your permit in. Do not go over the scale and make sure you back into a spot. Don’t just park on the curb.

NM’s favorite weather restriction is wind - I believe sustained wind of 22 mph - they will shut you down at the scales. No matter how ridiculous it is - even hauling a 94k lb dozer… yea I have had that discussion more than once.

I use an hp office 200 printer - super fast and has an internal battery so you can print even if it is not plugged in - plus it is small and super light. I take mine to the hotel if I have a down day and need to do paperwork.
A little spendy but it is fairly easy on ink cartridges -
I'm just glad WY isn't so pickey when it comes to wind...20-25 mph is a light breeze in WY.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I was gonna say, I don't think I've seen any of our vehicles with amber bubble gum lights.
-
A couple of our wing trailer had/have them. Mostly because we ordered trailers specifically to pull 16’ wide loads without strobes. *facepalm* so we had to add them after the fact.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

It would be a down right shame if it got so windy that all his banners and flags blew off of that load.

All and all, I am looking forward to pulling OD loads. It's a clerical PITA sometimes, and takes a lot of paying attention to the details...and some of the permits are worded with as much legal-speak as the IRS code...but it's still a new challenge I am looking forward to taking on.
ncmickey, 4mer trucker, mitrucker and 7 others Thank this.
