    When I got my CDL in MI, the school tested me.
    I always thought of it as very easy to exploit.
    This was 8 years ago.

    When I got my CDL in the mid -90s the school's lead instructor was the CDL road test examiner.

    Same here. I went in 2002. Decent local school with 30 year driving experience instructors. Only 4 students per instructor. Was way ahead of the curve when I went to first company.

    That is against the law in Mi. It has to be a independent third party tester and sight that has been surveyed and approved by the state. This varies from one state to another.

    If it was at the time it was easy to get around.
    My guess is I went to Bob's CDL school, and was tested at Bob's CDL road testing or something like that.
    In either case, the guy who did my test was the same guy that did the school room portion of training.
