If you can't see you slow down, whether its sun, fog, rain, or snow.
My guess is he wasn't paying attention.
I just passed a prime truck that was all over the road. When our cabs were side to side I could see the driver looking down at a cellphone or something on his lap. Any guesses what he was doing? I mean his head was bent down, and he had a frigging ballcap on, the normal way.
No chance he could see anything ahead. I'd been stuck behind him for four or five minutes, and thought the wind may have been blowing him around, but the trailer was sealed, and I saw otherwise when I could finally pass him.Puppage, pattyj, blairandgretchen and 3 others Thank this. -
From the aerial shots you can see fluid on the road surface but I don't see any skid marks. Tells me one of two things, no breaks or driver was asleep/unconscious. We will probable never know, but thoughts and prayers for all concerned.

Authorities say Steven Bernier, 50, of Reading fell asleep behind the wheel of the 18-wheeler.
Bernier is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle, nine counts of aggravated assault while driving, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, and various traffic offenses.
It happened at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Route 222 (Allentown Pike) near Route 73 in Maidencreek Township.
Authorities say Bernier was five hours into his shift when he nodded off. The tractor trailer he was driving plowed into a line of vehicles stopped at a traffic light.
Several vehicles simply flipped over. But others got crushed between the cab of the big rig and a large sign in front of a Dunkin Donuts restaurant.blairandgretchen, Studebaker Hawk, Marksteven and 3 others Thank this. -
