So i'm watching youtube videos about how to shift but i have a few questions
1. Will the truck stall out when you come to a stop if you don't have the clutch pressed in like a car does?
2. When shifting to reverse is like a car where reverse is all the way up and to the left? And same thing when backing up do you have to push the clutch down to keep it from stalling out when going too slow?
Excuse me for these extremely newb questions but again i'm not a truck driver yet.
Another newb question

Anyone anyone? Bueller? These are serious questions i never step foot in one of these trucks so i don't know how it works. I know how to drive a manual car but it's not the same as these trucks.

1. no but if your still in gear it will accelerate.
2. Clutch into reverse and your rolling. Remember to clutch back out of gear when you stop. Good luck -
1 - Yes, If it's a manual tranny, it'll bunny hop and stall out if you come to a stop without depressing the clutch.
2 - 10 sp and 13 speeds I have driven have had reverse in the far left and up position.
2(a) - Yes, you need to control the clutch in reverse also.
Actually, it's not that far off a car - cars have a syncromesh transmission that allows you to depress clutch and shift - trucks you have to double clutch/float/match engine and gearbox and road speed. Not that difficult.
Keep 'em coming. -
I'll stop now - I'm not explaining this well. -

The pattern, timing, and the fact that there is a clutch brake are different. But its a manual. Same concept as in a car. Clutch all the way down to engage clutxh brake, into gear, let off clutch till it grabs, feed off more clutch as you feed off the brake. When at a stop you can hold the clutch part way down to disengage the gear without engaging the clutch brake.

Basically i wanted,to know if its, like backing a car when in reverse you gotta, give it gas but once you let off the gas it will stall if the rpms drop too much then you gotta push the clutch back in to prevent that.
That was my one question. -
