Yes, you can do that, but in a decent yard, you can flag down a yard jockey and ask them to back under and lift the trailer long enough for you to turn the crank a few times.
They don't have to even hook up the air lines, just lift the weight a bit.
That said, I have cranked 40k loads higher manually by turning the crank in low gear. If the trailer only has to move an inch or so, that's normally faster than flagging down a yard dog.
Unless the trailers are so close that you can't turn the crank.
To the OP's point though, finish your contract and try at least one other company before you bail. I have only encountered one yard jockey that did more than grumble at me when I asked politely for help, and I've been in the business more than 2 years.
Another on bites the dust..

You gotta have thick skin man..i have had a few yard dogs act like weenies but it usually just minor and no problem. If you need to snap back at someone who is bring an ### out here do it quick and shrug that #### off and move on. Doesn't matter what job you do or where you go there are pricks everywhere..dont let them mess you up especially if you like this job..thats allowing them to control you.

Come drive tanker hauling milk.
I have not never met such a bunch of nice people.
I am new at it and end up going to dairies I have never been too with no clue what the procedure is.
The other drivers can spot the newbie a mile away at the dairies.
They are all very helpful showing you where the samples and paperwork goes and what the procedure is for pumping and washouts.BillStep Thanks this. -
There has been several times that I have had to crank a trailer up to get under it and that just goes along with the job.
As far as the yard dog, every once in a while you do come across an ahole and sometimes you just have to deal with it.
When I come across an ahole, I will try to be nice and polite but there is a limit to how long that will last. You get what you give. -
