i'm not a trucker. still in the process of getting my CLP. one night on my way home i spoke to a trucker that does food service from the looks of it. i asked him how he went about getting his CDL. he told me he got it through CR england. he said that a lot of people don't have good things to say about them, but that his experience with them was really good.

A job & employer that fit what you need is a good job. A job & employer that don't fit YOU is not a good job.

There are a dozen Mega Carriers that offer "free" CDL school in exchange for 12-18 months of work after school.

Every state has WOIA grants that will pay for most trade schools, not just truck driving.

Half of the trucking companies that hire newbies offer Tution Reimbursement which will help repay any CDL school loan. Most TRs will NOT repay you unless you have an outstanding school loan.

The industry is very slow now. There is NO DRIVER SHORTAGE. Lots of new CDL holders are not getting hired because there is less freight to move & it pays little to trucking company. If your work, driving, criminal histories are not clean & you have used weed in 6 months or less (some CBD will cause you to fail a drug test) you will have more trouble getting hired. Not every location has many trucking jobs.

I cannot stress how important it is for you to find the job BEFORE you go to any CDL school. CDL schools will ALWAYS claim "now is the best time to get your CDL" whether that is not true (now) or true.

Enjoying a long trip in a car or SUV is not driving 500 miles per day 320 days per year.

If you're low income or on unemployment you can training through the federal dislocated workers fund. I would do anything I could to get your cdl without being a slave to a company.

Why has no one stated the obvious: Go to one of the LTL companies and start off driving a forklift. Get into their dock-to-driver program(they all have one, formally recognized or not), get paid while you learn and get your CDL for free!

another option find a job that pay alot through lots of hours mostly OT. Like the oil field they need bodies some have man camps. I have heard also there is need for solar installers I am not familiar with the solar aspect the oil field owns considerable investments in that and wind power. anyways you could learn from oil field for sure and work way up many coworkers started as roustabout got their CDL later some companies even help pay.

Go to prime inc in Springfield mo, you will have to work for them for a year but they pay for your cdl and training, and the training is the best, you will learn how to do the job, and then after a year you can go where you want too, and owe nothing.

I would assume it’s because one candidate is very pro business and understands how fuel prices matter. The other candidate pushes the climate agenda which robs families of wealth. Pretty much everything you touch is made of oil. Everything plastic everything painted, Contact lenses, glasses, final you name it almost everything its made with oil when there is a war against fossil fuels it destroyed the economy just happened first week of office of president. Opendeck benefits from a thriving economy. Shoot fuel is my largest aspect of my costs. Cheapest energy stimulates wealth in a country. Expensive energy is a wealth killer. One candidate recently announced that they would provide a stimulus to everyone that will junk their non-missions truck for a missions truck. The current administration boasts that oil production is at an all time high, but will not admit that royalties to the government from fed land usage rose so high many times in the last 3 years that the costs are passed off to the consumer. If you look around the OTR segment most trucking companies now or foreign. What candidate is all about pushing in people the other one is pushing them out. Trucking wages are dropping trucking companies have been struggling or going out of business. You can’t compete with a foreign trucking company that flies people in and out and takes loads for $1.70-$2.00 a mile. - One candidate is basically anti-trucking. Were pro trucking and pro cheap energy. I wish both candidates would outlaw elogs, rearward facing cameras, and DEF. But that is a pipe dream.
