The same reason the cheap SOB’s order trucks with no visors, sleeper doors, kick vents, vent windows and soon to be no instruments/gauges!!

    Accord in Oklahoma
    Farmers oil in Kansas

These are decked out Pete's and they haul absolute arse. Only time I see them doing 70 or below is to turn into a place.

Same with Axis in Kilgore, and Mies & Sons in Colwich, KS. Nice Petes.

Are you talking HP or governed speed? Because over in Joliet both QC and Linden are governed at 72. Hell some of the QC trucks aren’t even governed on the pedal! Neither hires new drivers. They blow past everyone all day.

I see it even further than that.

There is a subconscious factor involved ...... the human brain is wired to directly correlate bigger sound as being a bigger threat.

You go toot-toot at a car about to pit himself on your bumper, that drivers' brain will look for a smaller profile threat, not a big rig, in turn the car driver reaction will be hesitated, as the brain has to recalculate the scenario.

The horn on the Cornbinder I drive sounds like one on an old VW. Barely gets any ones attention.

Talked to Indian River Driver at pump one day. Said his team truck is turned up to 80 IIRC.
