I've been to Foodliner's yard in Wichita KS. They seem to have a good operation. People better than mine. I was there for the tank wash. I worked both food grade and non in pneumatic tanker. My company was a good company. But from the terminal managers down. Forget it.
You realize you're sitting in the hot bed of freight/trucking. Hottest markets in the country. Ton's of trucking in and near Chicago. All kinds of opportunity for a new driver.
Still say Foodliner is good. From a superficial point of view.

I talked with a recruiter on the phone and his name was Roger , don't know where he was from ???
They have a Foodliner terminal in Lafayette, Indiana about 1 hour from me.
He said that they hire new CDL grads and have hired quite a few.
Didn't talk much about money but seemed like a good chance of getting hired.
I really appreciate all the info you posted and wondered if you could answer a few more questions if you are not too busy ?????????

1. How much do you think I can average a week on my take home check ? I know it is going to be different but thought maybe there is an average for you.

2. Where do you work out of ?

3. Roger told me that most trucks are 10 speed but didn't tell me what kind of trucks they use. What do most newbie's drive ?

4. He said you use elogs on People net, is that what you use ? I am trying to get all info needed to be ready for a job and I have a lot of time here in Korea to research things. I have been going over the CDL test and will probably get all my endorsements. Do you think I should get Hazmat ???

5. How about insurance ?

6. And being an old man like me How physical is this job ?

7. Do you know of any good videos on operating your type of tanker ?

8. Are you stuck outside the truck for long periods of time in very hot and cold temps ?

Foodliner and questliner are our food grade and hazmat divisions. Both pay well but have different pay structures to suit the work.

I do questliner hazmat. For me thats usually open appointments and wearing a chemsuit often it can be longer runs.

Foodliner, no hazmat or suits, tighter scheduling over shorter distances. Not always mind you... but usually.

Foodliner typically makes more cpm than i do... and they proba ly sit in lines more often than i do.

Take home pay... about the same in the end. LOL. That never made sense to me. Anyways, both are good places and pay well. But like most of trucking, it all depends where you live as to how good the runs are for you personally.

I dont know anybody thats a go getter making less than 65k some a lot more...

I dont live in the truck and dont want to. Home most nights and most weekends. 70k.
Again thats in my little slice of heaven. Some make 80k and i assume a few in the 60k range.

We get paid to drive, sit, throw hoses, load, unload, detention, plus quarterly and annual bonuses, 401k, healthcare, etc.

Its a good job. Daycab and sleeper trucks.
We have a pilot program where they will take a few students from accredited schools and send you with a trainer for 6-8 weeks. Not team driving. A real training program with a real trainer sitting beside you to get your feet wet, get your confidence up and get you started on a real career.

It seems ridiculously expensive to me. But they are doing it. And i have run with one of the guys. He's good. I have no problems with him. Had my doubts mind you... lol but he is good and doing excellent
