I've worked for a couple companies with fuel card problems. One of them is local and is still around 18 years later. The other one is a different story not fuel card related.

You hv too much exp & probably make .05 more than a rookie. Common for a 25-30 yr exp driver to get starved out. Wotc is 100% in full effect. Hire x military for the 50k tax credit or a minority x con for a double tax credit. I was trained by the head of the dot at the biggest pipeline co in America & in charge of the worlds strongest hhg rig & all the trucks, maintenance, etc. super tanker, permit loads, etc . It’s like a broken record all you old school guys can drive anything. All get the most beat up trks. Always in the northeast. W2 co.s are pathetic. So I tried the 1099 Chicago co.s same thing I got the biggest pile of junk. I,m 2 inches shorter in 2 yrs that’s a beating. The newer trks go to the 3rd world country drivers- idiots. Still run the ne. They rip you off tens of thousands of dollars. I rarely run into a driver with exp from the 70,s or 80,s like myself. No one wants to hire drivers with a lot of exp. 1 reason is if I,m doing short haul loads in the ne. I say I hv to get 300.00. We got that in 03 . None of the newer drivers know any of this. Just go work in a mill or warehouse like all the other older drivers. They make 10 + more an hr more than drivers.

Knight is doing this with us. We have contract with them to haul our defect tires that we inspect back to the manufacturers for r&d. Usually get 3 different brands to make a truckload. So one pickup but 3 drops twice a month. Since the middle of last year they have been sending us any bottom feeder o/o that will volunteer. We haven’t seen a Knight company truck or trailer in 9 months.

Bottom feeder O/O haha. That's the pot calling the kettle black seeing how you work for one of the biggest bottom feeders in the country. Sadly, however, there are a boatload of bottom feeders in the O/O segment right now that seem content to work for pennies instead of dollars.

I don’t work for knight or a truck company. Lol! We have our own private fleet of trucks and run only in Texas. Because hauling used/scrap tires is like hauling dirty diapers Knight was the only one that would work with us. Old D’s was our carrier for 10 years with great service but they decided not to renew contract. We signed a contract with Knight to haul our crap outside of the state but They are using others to do it for them instead of using their employees/trucks.

My bad and my apologies. I misread your post and thought you drove for Knight. I stand by my O/O comment though.

    Double brokering?

Meaning they get the original rate, then sell the route to an O/O for less and pocket the difference. Illegal, but easy money and almost risk free.

I remember watching the CEO of Yellow/Roadway on a long time ago and he said their drivers made $70k.

I think it was in 2009, but maybe before that. Anyway 70k in 2009, where are we today? Less or about the same.

New drivers think 60k is big money. The old hands were making that years ago- and the cost of living was less.

If Knight is simply farming the loads out through their own brokerage it’s not double brokering. Knight ya the one with the original load.
