My late husband and I were "administratively" terminated the day after he had surgery by the rotten (insert any name you want here) at Conway. He was dead 5 weeks later. I don't have a single good word about them. I hope they all go through the same hell I had to walk through. It would have financially broken them I am sure to continue on with our insurance a few more days I guess. I would NEVER work there.

Actually we CAN. This is why i really need tooo ignore that the ignorant drivers that think they know it all. Espically when they get smart over a simple question.

I have driven for Con-Way Truckload/Still do for a few more weeks. It's not a bad place, but it is a big carrier. It comes with big carrier problems. And for solo drivers they have some pretty bojangled places (Tractor Supply, Michaels) that require some ninja-style sleeping patterns. But that is going to be the story with any big carrier, they'll just be different colored trucks.

    Goods:

Weekly Pay (Direct Deposit, remember your blank check @ Orientation)
Payed Orientation (They also feed you lunch)
    Payed Hotel during Orientation

The Office guys and gals are friendly. The other drivers are friendly enough (barring the odd turd obviously).
The Trucks are governed at 65. So you can pass most of the annoying fleets if you want to. Or you can go slow, if you want to.
They'll pay for showers, so I usually fuel at terminals when I can and shower at TA (Extra Towels and more room. Less wait time usually, and bigger lots)
Transflo (I like it better than TripPak)
Comdata cards can buy scale tickets at fuel stops.
Trucks for the most part already have 1500W inverters in them, and plug ins at convenient places.
It's easy to avoid the main shop (Some people like not having to get pulled into the company shop every week. So this might be a plus for you or neg)
For the most part you'll get about 800$ a week net. Pretty close to average for solo guys (1,050 gross)
There are way worse places to cut your teeth, trust me. (Looking at you Werner, PAM, USA Truck, Stevens, Swift)
If there is a COn-way Freight/Truckload facility close to you, you can park there on hometime.
You can usually take a 10 hour break at a Con-way freight yard if you're close to one and can't find a spot. Restrooms and Wifi.

    Cons

Many many many multi-stop trips. I hate these with a burning passion.
Many contracts with Rocktenn and their yards always blow.
    Tons of Northeast stuff.
Super Singles (AKA Roller blades) these tires are slick on any surface. God help you on ice/snow/sand/dirt/gravel/stone/asphault/pavement etc
    Tag axles (nearly every tractor)
CFI trailers are hot boiled trash. They are terrible. The newer Con-way truckload trailers aren't so bad, but they are outnumbered for now.
Some of the Trucks have older Qualcomm units that are slow and unresponsive.
Mostly Kenworths, which may be a plus for you. Personally I hate them. I'd take a Freightliner over one any day. Only advantage is the Cummings ISX has a lot of heart, and will pull heavy loads uphill faster than the Freightliner I had at Werner for sure with the Detroit.
Few real terminals, and the ones that exist are not fun to go to (Laredo, Joplin, Lancaster, Taylor) they are so easy to get stuck in line for loads if you get sent there for a Relay. Those four at least.
Have to get Hazmat and Passport. This might not be a negative for you. But it was for me, it took hell's fire and four long months to get my passport. Hazmat was cake.
Mediocre Benefits (This won't matter if you're only there to cut your teeth)

That's all I can think of for now. Just remember that no matter what anyone says, all the major no experience carriers are going to be pretty much the same show with different paint. My personal experience with: PAM, Werner, and USA truck tell me that Con-way Truckload isn't so bad. Plus if you don't like the company you can always find another.

I will say this, Reefer sucks. I did it at Werner, and the wait times were beyond stupid. 5-6 hours to get a load of carrots off, and then I had to pay the lumper out of pocket and get reimbursed. I hated that. It might be different at Navajo, but likely more of the same. And getting the Reefers washed out always sucked unless it was that magic hour where there weren't 100 tankers trying to blast milk/sand/dung or whatever they were carrying out. And a lot of the places Werner sent us, we had to wash out ourselves, nothing will make a man more mad that driving with wet feet.

Byx just gave the best information I have read in a while.

As far as Navajo, it is a Jerry Moyes company and is run like Swift. I sure there is a little twist different but I could not tell you what.
