I went through two scale houses where the lights were directing all the trucks to the exit lane, however when you got to the end there was a DOT officer stopping each truck. He would lean over and do a quick look up and under things sometimes walked around seem to be mostly listening for air leaks or seeing the obvious. Then he would wave you through. Both were in SC. Off to the side, there were several trucks parked so obviously he was finding issues with quite a few.

Seen about 20 box trucks pulled over past the scales, so I guess that is what they are focusing on here. I keep getting green lights.
    Rideandrepair and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I was driving on Tuesday around 12:00 noon and I was going down I-85 going south from the Greensboro, NC area down to Kings Mountain, NC before getting off on Highway 74. Bloodbath. Absolute bloodblath the whole way. I must've seen a state trooper every 10 miles either parked in one of the hide-away holes on that Greensboro to Statesville stretch, parked on the grass waiting for someone or with a 4 wheeler or semi truck pulled over on the shoulder. And they weren't just going after semi trucks either, they had a bunch of 4 wheelers pulled over too.

I drove up to Southeastern Minnesota from North Carllina and it wasn't so bad, no extra police presence on the roads like on I-85 in NC. I was still getting bypass's on most of the weight stations like I usually do.
    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Just like with me in IL.

I have never seen them do this before, but it makes some sense.
Do a quick once over for something obvious, and only pull in someone that you can really nail.
    Lennythedriver and Rideandrepair Thank this.

So far ever since moving out NM and driving out of here in 2012, it's only been TX DPS that's been doing road-sides on me. So far three of them in the Panhandle and they've all been mid-week, early AM right before either going home or shutting down. Most recent was back in Sept 2020. Of course when I got the little "thumbs up" ticket that all was clear(kind of looks similar to a traffic ticket I guess, but it's not) I noticed I was marked as a "W" or White when I was clearly a darker Asian that could easily pass for black. DPS trooper must've been color-shot I guess:biggrin_25523:

That said, I was driving all three days of it and the NM, CO, and OK scales were operating on their normal hours. I was expecting another pullover by TX DPS, but they were nowhere to be seen(except for the Tahoe that's usually parked in front of the Vega TX courthouse next to the sheriff's cars). I even got red-lighted into the Clovis NM scale that has an inspection awning and I just got waved at by the scale-person in there and off I went.

If they want to inspect you, they'll do it any time they feel like. Blitz week is just a marketing ploy in a way. Get everyone to straighten up and fly right. I mean there could be concentrated areas of mass inspections in a given area. But it's not like a Shakedown Wonderland either.
