I stated school last Monday pass my drug test and physical passed all my exams first try. This morning was told I needed to call a lady I did and was told my application for employment had been denied by the carrier but no reason was given and no one can or will tell me why. No felony last speeding ticket was 2003 before that was 1994 Never failed any drug test, Instructors liked me so no bad reports from them. What else would cause them to denie my app

No reasons are ever given, just move on. You're in Indy right, must be 1 more company up there....Hell, put in 10 applications.
How's your credit report, how big a speeding ticket. Oh hell, you're 41 years old. That's your problem......old fart. But good luck, somebody will take you...

    Hey There,
Sorry you hit a bump in the road. Don't get discouraged. I have a couple of questions, it sounds like you are going through a company sponsored school, if that is correct, which company? Also, if that is the case, is the school close to where you live or were you sent somewhere else?

I went through a driver referral company. I filled out the application got approved, paid $200.00 and referred to two companies. The first CREngland, then Central, I got accepted into both and then after more thinking and research I changed courses and decided to go to a local private school. I thought the referral company was going to run my DMV and all to make sure all was good, when I heard I was approved and then got accepted and set to go to CREngland and then Central, I assumed all was good. Only my DMV, Background and all was never checked, so there really was no real screening process done.
With The Private school, l first I had to get my DMV records, pass a drug test and DOT test and my expense before even being considered for the school. Then I spent almost a whole day at the school talking with a few companies going over my DMV, Background and work history, after 3 companies offered me an opportunity with them providing I do well at school. only then did the school accept me. Then I spent another day there touring the school, equipment, talking to students and seeing if I could get approved for financing. I got approved for financing at a good interest rate, the companies that have pre-hired me offer tuition reimbursement, The finance company deferred the payments for 3 months so my first payment is after school and the same time the reimbursement kicks in. Also, my starting pay as an inexperienced driving school graduate is almost twice what CREngland or Central was going to pay me.
I tell you all of this, because, maybe not getting hired by that company may be a blessing. I don't know what you may owe for your week there, but, you still have options. One of the students I talked to went to one of those schools and got sent home with no CDL and owing a couple thousand, he was able to add that to his financing for the private school, and the company that hired him will reimburse for all of it.
As, for the why they didn't hire, these schools are a business within the business. They bring in a lot of new students each week, they don't have enough trainers for all the students, and I doubt they have enough openings to hire all the students. Who knows, if a driver or two had quit maybe you would have gotten hired. The fact that they haven't told you why speaks volumes. Go to a local school, take your DMV records and all and talk to them, maybe they can tell you if they flag or a reason why. I have a speeding ticket from just over three years ago, but, it was 10 miles over the speed limit, that, was a flag that may have prevented me getting hired, but we talked to the companies and got a pre-hire intent. I imagine that if I had gone to Utah I could of been sent home. The company schools make money on getting students, the company fills openings from the pool of students on an as needed bases. The school may bring in 100 students in a month, while the company may only need 40 new drivers that same month. Private schools also make money on getting students, however, the student has several companies to get hired by.

Don't get discouraged, there is opportunity out here for you.

    Take Care
    Bren

Spent most of yeasterday talking to and applying to companys should be lined up to go somewhere monday

seems like only about half of our original class actually made it all the way through and got there CDL

a couple got all the way up to taking the CDL test and failed it all 4 times, went back home

Guys and gals, don't sweat too much the bumps in your career path. Nor the "discouraging words" you'll encounter.
When I started I was told by a sanctimonious ex-military type that "I didn't have what it takes" yet here I am going on 39 years later, over 3.5 million accident-free miles and still going.

Just be serious about it and you'll do fine.
