So if I'm stopping for my 10 hrs and it's 0°F, but I am using my APU which will keep my batteries charged, and I have anti-gel already added, should this be ok? Or would you keep the truck idling in this situation?

You'll be fine to shut the truck down with anti gel in the tanks. If you ever find yourself without it I'd run the truck

Should be fine. I never had a problem with mine in that weather.

I have an APU and never idle my truck but I'm a wuss under about 10 degrees, I idle it then. Too afraid it might not start and I won't be able to escape back to the southern states as quickly as possible.

For literally only 10 hours I’m sure you would be just fine. I tend to agree with @86scotty though. Under about 10 degrees

I’d rather spend 30 bucks in fuel and know I’m good to go.

I actully had my filters gel this week even running the apu with a full gallon of howes in the tanks. Granted it got down to -27 but still. I would just idle it in single digits. Besides if the block gets ice cold it can be a ##### to start even if you dont gel and the risk of gelling is just not worth saving $20 of fuel. Moreso if you have a paccar, these motors do NOT like cold.

Well he did say 0 not -27 Ha ha. If it is -5 or below I would keep it running and that includes the wind chill. I have done it several times and never had an issue. I use POWER SERVICE DIESEL FUEL and never had an issue.

Also for the record I keep Running lights on to make sure the APU starts up more during night. If you are not pulling enough load and it doesn't start much it will gel up.

I personally don't shut down the trucks below 20, but my trucks are pre egr. Newer trucks handle the cold starts way better, but still, I wouldn't be comfortable with a truck shut down below 10
