I only got sick once on the road; food poisoning from a truck stop meal.
Keep your hands clean and don't touch door knobs or handles. I carry a wet wipe in my hand and use that to open doors at truck stops and anywhere else. Bare feet have never touched the floor of any truck stop shower and hands have never touched any restroom stall door handle or any other door handle in a truck stop. Don't touch doors at customers either.

Wear shower sandals, bring your own towel and soap for the shower... You dont want to touch or use any of that stuff that the truck stops offers especially those nasty towels that smell like bubba's crack.

Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer inside the door of your truck. Every time you get back in the truck put some on your hands.

Buy Clorox wipes and wipe your steering wheel, door handle etc etc down daily...

Those guys that work at the rail yard in Nashville can be real jerks. They enjoy having that power over you and refuse to use common sense. They do lots of damage to rail trailers & containers right there on the yard.

    Wash your hands.

    Prepare your own foods.

Shower shoes (though I've never used them) are a good idea. Unless you believe "Hospital Grade Clean".

As @JonJon78 said - wipe your work surfaces down daily.

I believe that only because I saw a Swamp People episode one time where Troy was showing how he takes a bath with bleach after he goes gator hunting.

Now you look here partner, we only allow a small amount of feces on our hands when we prepare meat. You compare that to Alabama and we are great.
