I've been using then for 20 years. And my dad used them the 20 years before that. They've been around a LONG time. But before online shopping became a thing they was hard to find.

When I started, heated mirrors were indeed a luxury. ( matter of fact, you were lucky to have a decent mirror at all, 1st thing to go at a truck stop) It was pretty much touch and go, and many times, you just "winged" it ( couldn't see) and hoped for the best.

I'm pretty sure the same door frame goes on whether it's heated or not, but that piece of rubber + man times costs a few extra cents each truck that can be solved by making the list price $1 higher... But for some reason, no, it's not standard... Because why charge $1 to make something standard when you can charge $100 to make it a luxury?
