Are "manual transmissions only" types of drivers supertruckers?

The funny part about this is I was a driving instructor for the Army back in the 90s and 2000s. I saw the problem then when moving away from manuals and I made sure to stress the importance of slowing early before turns, grades, and intersections. Apparently this was lost in translation as the civilians switched over, because it is very apparent to my eyes.

I hate being in traffic behind an auto for exa.
every time they screw me cause they speed up to 40 and slam on the breaks to a complete stop with no brake lights till the last second

anyone who says autos are better in traffic either A sucks at driving a truck or B has never driven an 18 speed. most drivers are probably the A scenario…

This makes no sense. Autos use their brakes MORE during stop and go traffic. In a manual I woukd almost never hit my brakes, just idle down and downshift.

Only if they never drove a manual.

I can pick a speed and hold it in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, and you'd never see my brake lights unless the lane stopped moving again. His complaint is that one of these auto rookies will see the 4 wheelers suddenly accelerate and they mash the pedal down, get up to 40, only to slam on the brakes as the accordion comes to a stop. The second driver doing the same now makes it impossible for the third driver to know traffic is actually stopping again ahead, and they get to mash the brakes, too. Meanwhile, an experienced manual driver would be able to see that traffic is stopping again well in advance and gradually change speeds in order to not waste fuel, clutch material, or effort. This directly translates into an auto, and you cannot tell but one difference between that driver in an auto and one in the manual, and that difference is the brake lights coming on and off when coming to a stop (for downshifting).

But guess what. That's got nothing to do with the transmission.

I've seen old manual trucks do it all the time. Making sure that next 4wheeler can't get in front of him and slow him down. While I, a new, don't drive a manual, just cruise along with 4-6 seconds of buffer. Between me and the next vehicle.

His gripe is not at all caused by the transmission. But by the super Trucker behind the wheel.

The difference is I can run the rpms a little higher in a manual and the truck won't upshift and I don't have to hit the brakes to force the truck to downshift.

There is a manual mode, too... you just have to work somewhere that allows for it and doesn't have it locked out in the computer.

But then you're not driving an "automatic "

Actually it's one of the benefits.
