I ask my trucking instructor about PRIME today, and he thinks the trucks are governed at 55mph. Is he wrong?

I think 62. Most big companies only focus on fuel saving.

I think it's 58 "on the pedal", 62 with cruise control for company drivers.

58 peddle 62 cruise for company
62 peddle 65 cruise for lease
I run 55 most times for fuel bonus for up to 6 extra cpm i'll go slow unless the schedule dictates a faster speed.

Better watch out as a company driver. They will harp on your ### if you don't run 55. Legally the trucks can't be governed to 55. It creates a road hazard and point in case, Swift got nailed for it back around 99'-00' by the government and by Freightliner due to being a road hazard and voiding the warranties on the trucks because it was burning them up. Around that time there were countless sights of Swift trucks sitting on the side of the road overheated. After that the trucks were turned back up. That running 55 isn't everything its cracked up to be on saving fuel. It depends on the truck but most trucks get their best MPG's between 60 and 65. I ran the 55 bit and the fuel mileage was piss poor at a whopping 5.4MPG kicking it up a little so the truck didn't have to work so hard pulling hills, go me above 6.0. They go by what the computer tells them through the QC. Not once do they actually hand calculate MPG's. They swear by that #### computer.

Let's not forget your lead foot problem. Nor do most trucks get their "best mileage between 60 and 65."

Prime is subject to dispatch to Canada where you are required by law to be limited to 65. There's a rather heavy fine involved, and the provincial police do check the settings.

My friend's prostar has limited up to 68 mph and we get 7+ mpg. Obeying speed limit will save fuel.

I get 8's in my Cascadia at lower speeds. You can't violate the laws of physics by "going faster to save fuel" unless thereis something mechanically wrong with your truck.
