was waiting at a dock to get loaded and another not so rookie driver started to back up beside me.he was blindsiding.i got onto the cb and told him to get out and look cause there was not much space.seems he did not have his cb on so just continued until he clipped my outer rear view mirror with his trailer.mirror just fell off.i flashed my lights and also gave him a pretty horn.he comes out inspects what has happened and finally tells that it was all my faultcause i did not get out help him.i mean i know that i could have spotted him but that doesnt mean he could proceed to clip another vehicle? i stopped arguing with him.when i was a rookie everyone gave me a ARE YOU SERIOUS LOOK if i didnt get out to see where i am.but with trainers with only 6 months experience of trucking it is quite expected for morons to act like this.no one even remembers what GOAL stands for.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

Geez.I miss the old days when a driver would get out look and ask for help. Those days left shortly after the days where a driver would automatically jump out and help a fellow driver whether he needed it or not...
-
yes sir and you being an experienced trucker i am sure what you say must have been true.but actually i was going through my logs and was on the phone with my dad(he suffered a cardiac arrest) and just didnt know that he would need help.i would be really glad if he would have gotten out to ask for help and i would have been more than happy to help him but he just thought that he was the king of the road.rjones56 Thanks this.

Two quick answers--IF you didn't want to/couldn't get out--1st get on the horn if he is gettin 2 close--2d if it isn't broad daylight--flip your marker lights on--BUT--either way--had he started gettin to close to me--I would have got on the horn as I was gettin out
just my $.02driverdriver Thanks this. -
it happens, but it was his fault. get the info and turn it in

This is going to sound a little mean, but oh well...
Why is it, seemingly, that when something of this nature occurs (a driver about to be hit by someone doing a slow maneuver), that driver is always in the midst of something that he can not possibly break away from for even a minute?
If there's a driver blindsiding next to me, I'm on my toes, period. And you can bet I'm probably out of the truck watching and at least offering assistance. Dad, Aunt Martha, and the dog vomiting at home will all have to wait.
This reminds me of a guy I used to work with years ago in retail. I think he must have had a dozen grandmothers, because about once a month he'd call in sick because "his grandmother just died".
Yeah, it was the backers fault. But Jeff4 ought to be ashamed of himself. He could have helped, and chose (yes, chose) not to.windsmith, Leftlane101, cableclown and 4 others Thank this. -
I forgot about the buttkicking contest that usually happened after the rare occasion of someones truck getting hit.

I love those calls from home:
Her: "The car won't start"
Me: "Well, put the car on the phone and I'll see if I can talk some sense into it..."jeff4, NWMAXI, Eaton18 and 1 other person Thank this. -
yup i know that i could have helped.i mentioned that but that doesnt mean that it is entirely my fault.i just got enraged when he starts to tell me how i was at fault.that just is plain idiotic.
NWMAXI Thanks this.
