I figured it was a Link thing because it was never that way with Arnold going back to 2010 when I started. The planners fighting for and keeping drivers in their running areas was non existant. This has been my first runs west though since the merger.

So here's an update. A couple months ago, my wife and I decided she was going to CDL school. We applied to PTEC but the school was not approved by the company so we went the roadmaster route. My wife graduated as scheduled and attended orientation the following week. with me already being a trainer, they allowed me to be her trainer for her 150 hours. Pretty much simple after that. We ran hard for 150 hours and she finished up in 3 1/2 weeks with 8500 miles logged. Yesterday, She breezed right thru her written, backing , simulator and road test required for upgrade to first seat driver. Our first full week as a team we ran 4,000 miles with one day layover. I feel it was a pretty decent week considering were not in sync with sleeping while the other drives so there has been some exhausting days. The recruiting department, orientation staff, dispatch and finishing department have been all very helpful and on par with the process getting done very thoroughly.
Regarding the other issues in this thread. I don't know how GP works. It seems like Jax and GP operate 110% differently. I've had my complaints with this company, and I've made them very blunt here as I don't pull punches with Arnold, nor did I with LinkAmerica. With both companies, i worked the chain of command when things weren't right and I got results every time. With me training my wife, I've been more focused on getting her trained correctly so she can be an asset to the company as well as herself, which has prevented me from updating here. I do still have issues here. Some minor, some that make me go insane but in the end when it smooths out, all is good. Arnold works for me for plenty of personal reasons. I wish I could help others who have issues on here but all I can do is give my best advice and the people to contact if your in Jax. -
Anj I do not understand how things are so great for you. I was a Link driver and things were a hell of alot better there then at Arnold. I gave Arnold the benefit of the doubt went through the chain of command as high as I could take it. Had conference calls with all of them and to be very honest nothing changed. I have spoken to other Arnold drivers and they have similar complaints and specially Link drivers where the miles are not there, sitting till the next day cus there are no loads, always getting heavy loads over 40, 000 lbs, having to pickup lite loads and taking them to the rail and the list continues. Not to mention office staff or night dispatch, they prefer to attend meetings then to take care of the drivers that are out there. What's five minutes to someone's time to take care of an issue. What's so hard to have someone call you back with a solution. When you start seeing your check at the end of the week for less than $1000.00 its time to move on.
So either you are BSing everyone or your in tight with upper management and you are their premadona. Cus you are a company driver am an O/O and should be making more money than a company driver and believe me Arnold needs to take a good look of their company. At Link we had alot of good accounts and management lost most of those account cus they hike the rates. There are alot of drivers leaving and dispatch at night is only one or two if that in the Jax yard.Last edited: Sep 13, 2013

Where have I once claimed things were great for me? Read thru the entire thread, I've been quite specific. Why is it anytime someone has a different experience then someone, that person is in tight with management "? You seem to have done good at link, as did I, but there are plenty of people on here who would say different. So you must have been Bsing or "tight with management ".

So.... I'm at home, under a load. GP failed to respond to comms regarding getting the load handed off to another driver for del. Today, FM realizes there is a problem and starts blowing up my phone. Meanwhile, I've left for OKC, an hour west of home. He wants to know where the trailer is. Sorry bud, the rig is in front of my house and I'm not there so now we have gone from snafu to tarfu. I call GP, but as usual, it's either hold for 10-15 min or call gets dropped. Bummer... for GP. I'm in OKC with family.
I get a call from an owner/op that my FM gave my number to (without my knowledge or consent). He's empty in OKC and they want him to repower the load. I explain the problem and he realizes it's a no-go. Late this afternoon, he calls back to say he msgd GP and told 'em what the deal was. They did not reply...
Guess what? GP is now fubar on this load all because my FM failed to respond all day Thursday. I have zero sympathy. I did my job. Welcome to the church of the painful truth...truckinmike1984 and 123456 Thank this. -
I wouldn't call it ignorant or insulting. It's the truth. There are so many drivers including yourself (richi) that is so unhappy with arnold that the miles are not there, to much down time from one load to the next. For example being empty early afternoon and not having a load to the next day. Dispatch is a joke, calling the office and trying to resolve an issue and you get cant talk to you send message via computer. Then you do that and they take hoirs to get back to you..
How many drivers have their week planned out not many cus if that were true then we would all be talking great abouthis company and not complaining. -

Awfully quite in here.
Things still flowing here, finished our load this morning which gave us 4,913 miled the past 7 days including a day of layover. On a preplan from GA to PA then from MD to FL.
Team driving.... well, awfully different that's for sure. When I trained, I refused to run as a team with students so i always slept while parked. Getting used to sleeping while shes driving is very tough. Especially in places like Louisiana down I-10 when every bump nearly jolts you to the ceiling -
Since leaving home last Monday
Jacksonville, FL to Rincon, GA to Grand Prairie, TX
GP, TX to Dallas, TX to Tyler, TX
Tyler, TX to Hawkins, TX to Springfield, MO
Springfield, MO to Bloomsfield, MO to Loveland, CO
BT from Loveland, CO to Golden, CO for empty then dead headed to FT Collins, CO to Amarillo, TX
Amarillo, TX to Paris, TX
Paris, TX to Crossett, AR to Elwood, IL
Elwood, IL to Wauconda, IL to Macon, GA (current load)
