One area mentioned, happens on here too often.
"I just finished CDL school and looking for work."
So we spend 2 hours researching for jobs that hire from his town/area, etc.
Post a list for the new driver.
Then he or she says, "Oh, by the way, I have to be home every day." or "I forgot to mention, I'm in the SAP program." and on and on.

“I don’t want to drive at night or in the rain. I want a dedicated account. I only want to work 8 hours a day. Oh, and I want everyone in the office to appreciate me and respect me.”

That is a good article, even though many of us have echoed those points ad nauseum. The one thing I pay attention to is how much a recruiter tries to seduce a driver with amenities. If that's how their pitch leads, I'm looking elsewhere. I don't care about amenities. I care about miles, freight, and equipment. Sure I'm a Volvo or Mack kind of guy when it comes to truck preference, but I'll drive whatever they have. When I came to my current situation, there wasn't a talk about amenities first. It's a talk about how they do business. They explained the process of coming to the yard and checking through the shop, and their maintenance, in my opinion is one of the biggest strengths of this company. That made me feel like they're committed to keeping the trucks moving. Sure, the article gave a bunch of surface level questions, but drivers have to know how to peel back layers in order to make the right choices. That doesn't come right out the gate usually unless they've done extensive research, and talked to the right experienced drivers.
