You get used to it... if not get a set of noise-cancelling headphones, turn 'em on without plugging 'em into an MP3 or whatever.

I got used to sleeping through jet fighters taking off in full afterburner in the Air Force... get tired enough, you can sleep through most anything... even a reefer on a produce run!

Ahhh... sweet memories: FA-18s practicing carrier landings. Touch and goes not 500 yards from my barracks door!

So I just talked to a recruiter (Allie) today and she said you take your cdl test there. Is this good or bad? I remember about any other school doing this and all the people who did that lost their cdl.

Are you referring to that Swift school scam in Tennessee? They used a third-party (non-government) testing deal.

Do your permit test in your home state, and come to Prime with a permit. Its much easier that way. When you do your CDL driving test it is with a state of Missouri DMV inspector. Take the CDL that Missouri issues you back to your home state and transfer it there.

I get what your saying but if your from california when you change over your CDL from another state you have to take a 2 week course before getting a CDL:biggrin_25515:

I'm thinking of coming over to Prime, just have a few quick questions:

    1) do lease operators have to pay for their own refer fuel or does prime pay it
    2) What kind of tucks are available in the lease program? I've seen some of the small sleeper trucks, Hope those aren't lease trucks.
    3) I currently pull flatbed, is there flatbed freight in the south since i live in North Carolina?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Reefer fuel... you have 2 hours after hooking onto a trailer to fill up - you are reimbursed for that. After that you pay for what you use. The logic behind it is that we use a heck of a lot less reefer fuel when we're paying for it. Frequently there is a reefer surcharge collected from the customer to defray the cost, the reefer ECMs really cut down on how much is used (compared to a few years ago,) and our corporate fuel discount means we aren't paying the pump price. It averages around a penny per mile over the course of the year - and comes off of your taxes as a business expense.

You don't like our cute little mini-trucks? LOL! We run full size Cascadia and Peterbuilt 587 condos as well. They are purchasing a few Kenworths this year to help out with the current crunch on truck production.

I'm sure we have flatbed freight down south... I see plenty of our guys down that way, and I know there is a "southeast regional" deal for the flatbed division. I can't provide any more detail than that... sorry.

No you don't. The drive Tester is a Prime employee certified by the state DOT. As I understand it the testers are randomly inspected and evaluated a couple times of year.

Permit tests are given by state examiners that are on site once a week. Partly to cut down on DMV crowds and partly because Prime agreed to allow a local truck driver training school students come in and take their tests too.
