I'm new to reefer, and I have to deliver to the Associated Foods DC in Farr West, UT tomorrow. I don't have an appointment time; my dispatch just says 3/12 0000 to 3/13 0000.
Any tips on what's the best time to get there, check in procedure, parking/staging, etc would be helpful. I always see trucks lined down the street when I pass by on the interstate. I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
    Thank y'all in advance.

You probably want to check first by calling the receiver to see if you have an appointment. Sounds like a window for drop and hook?

    That's a good idea. It's definitely a live unload.

I've been to dozens of food warehouses and usually check in, then the security guard will say to monitor the CB radio. If don't have a CB radio, then have to give your cell phone number. You'll be contacted and told which door to back into.

A trick I've learned that often helps me is I go to google maps and find the place I gotta go to. 1st I'll check out the satellite view to give me a clue about the general layout, dock location, etc. Then, usually the business I'm going to will show up. I select that and look through the reviews others have left. On more than one occasion I learned something that helped when I arrived. Such things as park on the street and bring the BOLs to the gate, or place is really picky about trailers, so probably want to get a washout before I arrive. Stuff like that. That might give some insight on when it's best to get there.

I was there last Oct. When you get to the check-in gate, near the dead-end, you call the phone number on a sign. (801) 786-8711 They will ask for your load number or PO number, I don't recall. I recall the number they are looking for starts with 142 or 144. They have 3 or 4 receiving offices depending on what products you are delivering. I was lucky to always drop and hook. I almost always went to the receiving office on the opposite/back side of the building from the entrance where you check in by phone. When you check in the guy on the phone will give you the Door Code, write it down. Punch that door code into the lock to get into the receiving office, if you go around back. When you are done, go out the same way you came in. No need to talk to anyone once you get your paperwork back. The exit gate opens when you get close enough to it.

Signs in the industrial park say no truck parking. You can park on the street near the entrance. There is a Maverick fuel stop and a Texaco fuel stop a couple of exits north of the Farr West exit. There is a couple of truck stops (Sinclair and another where I-15 & I-84 merge) slightly farther north. Trucker Path can show you those. Associated Foods is decent for a reefer customer.

Associated doesn't use CB, some other customers do.

Been there many times, one of my favorite places to deliver.

long street for parking/ taking a 10 if necessary..

pull up to the gate 30 minutes prior to delivery appointment..NO earlier.

Always were super fast unloading when I went.

Another note.. The loading docks are super easy to get into, lots and lots of room to maneuver.

Perfect place if you’re a new driver.
