I feel if you pay for something like unlimited or for a HD cable tv then you should receive that. wasn't it like $165/month for unlimited? Someone is paying high price to receive it. Clearly then the performance and speed is reduce for these unlmited customer which they didn't agreed to in the beginning. They should just raise the price to $200 or even $300. Supply and demand, if there's a huge demand for huge data then increase your prices, dont cap someone, that's ripping someone off.

stexan, if you with paying for what you use, then you must like that highway tax deal which they are talking about taxing people on how much miles they use a year instead of taxing fuel. Now that might be fair but what's going to happen with us drivers. i know i dont use my personal car much so it won't affect me much. But you know they are talking about this because they will generate more money than taxing fuel.

internet or road, if you pay for unlimited you should get what you pay for. if we start paying for how much miles we do a year, but there's also a cap with added fees if you go over, dont you think that's kinda ripping people off?

It just pays to have more than one internet provider. I guess their excuse is that they want to control what we use so we don't snarl up the system.
If that's the case then they need to get on with it and improve the infrastructure. Anything at 10 GB or less is a pathetic allocation. I get 125GB at home thru a different residential provider, but we never get close to using it all. Verizon etc charge enough for the service as it is, so they need to pull their finger out. No point going backwards. But in all likelihood, this will kill streaming, especially at peak times. The buffering would drive anyone lulu. I was never a great fan of that anyway. Way to much bandwidth is required, so in a way, you can't be surprised at what they're wanting to do.

Just waiting for the first carrier to offer "roll over data gigabytes" much like AT&T did in the past with "roll over minutes". Anyone who is grandfathered in to an unlimited plan will only last until your current service contract ends. After that, the carrier can stop offering unlimited data and not much a person can do about it.

Just called verizon as we are subscribers. The facts are that they want to get rid of the unlimited plans and go to a set plan as in 8 gigs. For an xtra $10 over and above the reg plan $$ you will be allocated another 2 gigs, making it 10 gigs.
But CS at verizon have no plans to slow down the reg customers and in fact are going to go to a speedier data rate. It's gonna be called XLTE, and it's much quicker than the present LTE, and 3G
Theyre already in the process of introducing it but they're doing it area by area, whatever that means.
So sometimes you can't always believe what you read. Better to get the real news from the horses mouth, so to speak.

You are getting what you paid for (unlimited). What are you talking about you want what you paid for? They are not threatening to cut off your service or reduce your data usage limits. There is nothing in the contract about guaranteed [unlimited] throughput (bandwidth), just unlimited data usage.

But you know, one day in many of our lifetimes, we'll see video options carrying 500+ channels come through via satellite into antennas and tuners that look just like Xm/Sirius radio antennas and tuners we have today and all this IP/internet usage will come to a near halt and then we'll be griping about having to choose only 50 channels of 500+ possible satellite channels, so advertising rates can be established.

It already exists. Its has 400kbps of speed and costs about 6k per month.

How ever if you look at Europe and South Korea these places already have a cell network that can handle these things in place. The problem with north america is that we're just not densely populated enough to do this.

Companies need to start investing in better infrastructure rather then raw burst speeds on their networks so they stop having overloaded issues and lack of bandwidth.

I rarely go on LTE because I find up here that network is overloaded. So I just use the 3g network. Admitilly that is HSDPA rather then EVDO so that's a lot faster then say Sprint or Verizon's 3G data network.

LTE in the US is great (in most markets). occasionally you may find it sluggish for a time but not for long. I've had LTE through my Novatel hotspot download faster at times then my mom's cable internet.
