I don't think anyone called anyone an idiot... As you said, it's just a technical discussion between two folks with more knowledge than most... Don't take it personal.

    Actually, I am enjoying it.
(Now, in this F1 discussion, I'm the idiot)

    That makes two of us.

On a side note, I personally don't care whether or not anyone with a degree from any glorified indoctrination center thinks this mere truck driver is an idiot.

You're not buying that BS are you TMB?

Let's recap. He volunteered he was an engineer but when pressed for details we heard crickets. Then I called him Lux Prometheus (an eerily similar TTR member to this WhinyF1 fellow) and only then did he claim the title of aeronautical eng but wait.... he's retired..... now I dont know about you but he doesn't sound old enough to be a retired anything. Still hasn't said what school or graduating class he was in BTW. Then he said makes less money at trucking than Marketing.... Marketing? Then he worked with F1 teams but didn't say doing what..... Just some vague comment about "components". And all the BS started with him saying F1 transmissions were automatic but when you tripped him up he changed stories again. All the while letting on like he's been trucking forever but a little research shows he only just got his CDL. Aeronautical Eng to telemarketer to AMT trucker. Quite a resume indeed LOL.

Funny how touchy some truckers get about being attacked as just a trucker, even when no one attacks them, but you have no problem calling out others... LOL

He provided answers to your questions and when he does he some kind of bragger.

There is just no pleasing some folks.

If there is a disagreement fine, but kindly stop making it personal... It's kind of sad really.

Nope having a degree doesn't make you smart, and your attitude and the fact that you tell me I'm wrong about my favorite sport is why I'm not much of a fan.

Have you been to MotoGP or F1? I already know you don't closely follow the current F1 races or you'd be aware of Jensen Button getting a penalty for having his engineers help him work through a software glitch on his transmission during a race, oh, that's right couldn't have happened because they don't have software helping with the shifts.

And while we are at it, more than a few "truckers" have a chip on their shoulder when anyone with a degree enters this field as if it's so hard to believe that for some it's more about the journey than the destination.

You may fully know your way around a 60 Series Detroit, and you know something about F1, but you are not nearly as smart as you're trying to make out to be, so yeah have a technical discussion and cut the know it all crapola...

So how old do you think I am, remember I drove trucks during college in the 80's...

For the most part I like dealing with people here but every once in awhile I run into folks like you who seem to only want to be the "experts" and ya know I am old and cantankerous enough not to put up with your crapola. Why don't you Google MTS systems and check out some of their test equipment, they produced both F1 transmission dyno's and suspension simulators...may learn something as well.

Some came into this industry from family relations, others came following a career, we're all out here trying to make a buck. Also try reading automated manual is different than automatic...if out don't know try asking instead of sounding like you're depriving a village somewhere.

Sadly I'm not an Owner Operator - yet, so yeah trucking doesn't pay as well but it's a lot less stressful. The only real pias beyond the 4 wheelers and select lumpers I deal with now are you and TMB...and yeah I can deal with that...
