Bravo Chinatown!I agree with you and I know that my place can be difficult to deliver to,but they did know about it!
Why they sent me someone straight from school is beyond me!Chinatown Thanks this. -
It's typical for a new driver to go through the whiny stage. Only through numerous problems and added sitting they learn patience and professionalism. With one of the highest turn over rates in the country and many drivers retiring all trucking companies are faced with hiring new drivers.
Just because they know about your place doesn't mean they have to specially cater to you with their most experienced driver. Maybe that route doesn't pay the most. Maybe they don't want their best drivers hassled. Why put your best driver on it when there are easier routes that pay better?
This is a mutual thing. You need to make a little effort to improve your delivery situation. There are no telling how many more inexperienced drivers you will get in the future. These trucks and trailers cost in excess of $100K. Why should they scratch and tear their trucks/trailers up?
Here's some pictures to give the members a better idea.
Front of store with an exit. Note busted brick on the corner of the building and damaged overhang. Not only is the building damaged so is the trucks.
Street to left of first picture to get to the alley way behind it. Notice No Truck sign enough to scare any newbie. Can't make the alley way turn they are in the predicament of a No Truck neighborhood.
This is the problem turn from the picture above off a 2 lane road. Do everyone a favor and cut them two trees down and where the brown spot is put about 6" of gravel and all problems solved.
This is the side road to the right of the first picture. You have to turn in that second entrance to the left for the same alley way. Notice cars parked on the right side of the road.
From the picture above this is the entrance/exit to the alley way. The business is on the far end of the alley way. Note you have to drag your equipment through trees and scratch them all up. -
Thanks Condo.
No way we'd go in there. We wouldn't make a scene about it, We'd just say "can't be done".
This S/R needs to call Brooklyn, NY, to learn how to receive--- where they come out, direct us down the street and bring their forklifts to the street to off-load us. Those Brooklyn guys really know how to hustle, they get 20 pallets off in about 15 minutes. -

Hello it looks like you know our place well and it looks like you had deliver here in past.
Than you may also know that 18 wheeler comes with no problem at all and 20 wheeler will have some trouble ,but it still possible.
I really appreciate your advice, but my problem is :if you personally know (as they did) where are you going would you accept delivery that you know it is too hard to do for you?
I would not I would tell my customer : your place is hard to deliver and unless we agree upon some arrangement ahead of the time I can not deliver your product.
But once I accept delivery I would make it to the destination even if I have to carry in my hand half way to it -and this is just me !
My problem is:
The delivery company showed up at 8pm instead 12-5pm as we requested (driver did call @5 and said he is not going through the traffic because of 30 cs and that he will be here by 7 pm)
Delivery company delivered across from us and we were expected to carry at 8 pm across the street (Central)to our door 30 boxes ,he did not want to turn around and face our door nor he wanted to turn around and park at Pecan!
As for the trees for your info: in Charlotte you need to have approval to cut trees in historical (as our is)areas and most of the time is not approved we tried and did what we could. -
I agree with you ether say no way to begin with or work with manager if you made mistake but I would not de demanding once I make mistake!
And we did in past do many times come to the beginning of the street and fork lift our product in ,but not across the street. -
30 boxes are you serious
RedForeman Thanks this. -
Lol, no I've never been there. 30 cases I would stop in front of the store with my 4 ways on and two wheel them in.
Talk with the salesman about the issue or whoever you order from. They can put remarks on the bills for the driver to call for delivery instructions.
If it was me I would talk with the city and have them forbid street parking to the alley way which they would put street signs up. Then I would have them two trees removed. If the city don't approve it go buy some tree spikes at any garden store. One spike will kill the tree dead in a month and the city will have no choice but to cut them down. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
knightrider77 Thanks this. -
