I thought I was getting breakdown pay for each day, I was informed this morning that is not the case, my understanding is breakdown pay is payed on days where I miss a load, I've missed one load since the load I was under was repowered this morning. And the breakdown pay is at $50 a day

I was just worried if I accept the 34 hour reset then turn around and do another one wouldn't technically be too fatigued to drive again? I mean that's why they changed it 1 reset per week because drivers were doing 2 resets per week and crashing left and right due to too much fatigue.

PS just having some fun, this thread is all used up lol

Most companies have software that flags issues and that's what your safety department works off. Typically the software does not understand 8/2 split and neither does safety until you educate them, use it to your and the company's advantage. No doubt same with restart.

Also, you cannot make up 8 days without pay. Just can't. That's a permanent dent in your income for the year. TMC on any given day has myriads of issues come up, accidents, lawsuits, drivers gone rogue, etc. If there were more of a financial penalty for the waste of your time it would change.

Until then, that's trucking. The state it's in and you're in it. Both feet.

You might want yo consider how you log all this in regards to getting paid, then maybe it is irrelevant. That is my Union side coming out.

On the upside, they finally made a decision to order a new intercooler for my truck, they waited so long that it may not be on the truck till tomorrow vs today. So I'll be sitting here at least till tomorrow evening, possibly the day after.
Not sure I understand what you mean.

A union driver would be 'on the clock' for the entire breakdown... paid for his time. Hourly. Hotel and per diem, most likely. Clock stops when you get home.

If you are going to get any compensation for your lost time they may require you to log on duty not driving to get any pay.

Don't like the answers when I'm given ######## to dig through. I never asked about a log violation, I asked if it would be a good idea to take my 34 given my individual circumstances, that was all. Instead I get talked down to how I'm breaking the rules because I logged in sleeper vs off duty, which has been stated can be fixed without issue.

Which is exactly what you're doing

OR....a non-union driver that works for a tad bit better company than the o/p. (but from the way things look at our outfit the union is coming, which is fine) If we break down, run out of hours, stranded due to weather or whatever the circumstance we get paid at the onset of the occurrence until we arrive to our destination or the problem is corrected and we are again underway.
