So far, this month is shaping up nice. Average length of haul is 495 miles and total revenue/total hub miles is 1.465 per mile. If I can keep the trend going I should bring in over 15k in revenue this month.

They added a new dispatcher, the same one I had when I worked for Knight, and he knows how I like to run and has been doing a good job. I kept telling him to apply and that they need someone over here and he finally did it. It has been pretty smooth.

Month ended with 15,965 in revenue on 11,021 miles. My best month yet; these guys have improved a lot.
Got my new steer tires today and got a 3 axle alignment done. Rear was fine but the steer was well off. Shouldn't have any more issues. That cost me 1450.00 for the alignment and 2 new Bridgestone R283A steers. The Bridgestone Super Singles have just over 60k on them and show zero signs of irregular wear and have 17-19/32nds left, I measured multiple points, of the original 23/32nds. I am very impressed with them.

Misesian... I have read all your posts from when you started trucking school and went out on the road your first time... then to buying your first truck and all the way up until today. Very good job man!

I keep listening to all these old farts and truck whiners. They only see that .30 cpm and think thats worse than a company driver... not hearing you say over and over and over again that the .30 cpm was company profit in the bank, not your take home pay and that you pay yourself $32 a year salary first. I think it would shut them up if you started posted your personal salary in the profit margin as a total and not total it with the truck expenses.

Also, to all these guys saying theres better carriers out there paying more...

#1 He quit Knight because they closed down the Northwest Arkansas branch... that should tell you that he is trying to pull for someone local so he can get back to Arkansas every now and again.

#2 These better paying carriers you speak of usually require 2 or more years experience to get hired on... if you listen to the OP, you will see that he's been short on this 2 years and hits it in November.

#3 Stop telling him theres better paying carriers and name off some that have a terminal to work out of up here in the Bentonville/Rogers/Springdale area. Tell him where to go instead of telling him he should go.

The guy went from being a dispatcher to attending driving school and driving as a company driver, to buying his own rig and learning the ins and out of the O/O trade and learning valuable knowledge doing it while he earns his 2 year experience badge. I think he is doing great! If you see a rookie that's 1 month out of truck driving school... are you going to tell him he should be shooting for that .40 cpm mark right away, or are you going to tell him to stick it out with the .25 to .28 cpm pay until he gets a year under his belt? Same thing with Misesian... he is a O/O rookie earning his 2 years experience belt, while learning the O/O trade and learning the in's and outs and the tricks of the O/O game.

Cut him some slack and acknowledge for a rookie O/O, that he is doing AWESOME!

Everyone has their opinion. There are a few that have put comments on here about what they average, like Spyder, and I believe him. I am making what I need to make and others are doing the same in their own way. It is what it is.

I put a day in with new steers and what a difference! It rides so much smoother now. It is very noticeable when I bobtailed to the shipper this morning; no wobble or shaking. Very pleased.

Been a while but still truckin'. I ended up going somewhere else and by switching carriers I'm making .15 cpm more on all miles. They have all their own freight and no brokers and it is much nicer. The running area is primarily up and down 35, 55, 40, and 44. As far west as eastern NM and as far east as St Louis. This place puts cameras in all the trucks, both inward and outward facing. I like it. They have already called me once to tell me good job avoiding an accident. The camera only saves and reports data if I trigger an event. They are smaller with only 165 trucks on the road and most of the shippers are drop and hook with most deliveries being live unload.

15 cpm is a big step up. But don't get content. Keep searching for better opportunity.

You brought your truck over and let them put in a driver facing camera? Or did you get into one of their trucks as a company driver now?

Obviously he let them put one into his truck. He didn't get a 15 cpm raise by going from an oo to a company driver.
