Holley has legit upgrades that don’t look or work like the crappy Chinese ones everybody uses.

They’re the best. $10, last at least a year, sometimes 3. I think some of these Drivers are afraid of the dark. Lol. I’m tempted to put some super bright off road lights on my front bumper, and the rear of trailer. I’m sick of these ignorant Truckers and their high beams. They know better. Just plain rude. No respect for others.

A Headlight/Driving Light is only as Good as It's reflector...!!
A good quality light (eg;Hella.Narva)with 55watt Bulb will be far superior to any Ebay/Amazon POS with a 100+ watt Bulb..
Higher Wattage Bulbs will leave a Burn/Scorch mark on the Reflector & affect their performance..
A good quality Light with a 55Watt Bulb is all you Need.. IMHO

All this Chinese crap is not DOT certified. If the light doesn’t have “DOT” molded into the lense, it’s an offroad light. Very easy for cops to do something about, but, they don’t. Light bars are the worst and they drive right by cops, lit up.

I checked into getting a set of 2023 579 Headlight but they are not a direct fit into my 2018 579. Was kinda bummed out but whatever. I was out in Wyoming last week in the blizzard and had a light go out. So I parked and grabbed my spare from the bunk and started installing it. A prime flatbed driver came up to me and offered me these bulbs he bought off Amazon and had ordered an extra set. He would not take no as an answer. Refused to even take some cash. They were Led bulbs. I’ll post picture of them. They made 10000x difference. Night and day difference. I’ll order some to have as spare and maybe somebody might need them like I did.

    I saved that pic.

I’ve got a set of halogens coming, this next week or so. I’m concerned about the low-beam wattage. But, I just want to try something. Another concern is lifespan. I know these whiter bulbs don’t last as long. But, IF they do work out, then, they could be a nice upgrade, without the risks of an LED in a halogen housing.

We need more threads like this one where drivers can collectively work toward solid options, regardless of the topic.

The guy that gave me these said he had them in his truck for little over a year without replacing. When I switch to high beams I get a light on saying high beam bulb needs replaced even though it’s functioning properly and it only stays on for maybe 30 seconds before going away . Sometimes it doesn’t do it. Sometimes it does. Weird

The way these newer trucks and cars are set up, if you stray too far from OEM spec’d wattages and voltages it will kick out error codes.

My personal vehicle is a Tacoma and I’ve read about some aftermarket taillights that will put the truck into limp mode. So it’s not just these big trucks that have their own weird manners.

Yep. It’s the CAN bus system. There are LED bulbs that are supposed to have appropriate resistors built into them that are supposed to keep that from happening. However, some reviewers say they still have problems with those bulbs, which caused me to shy away from LED, altogether.

Update: Truck is a ‘20 T680 with projector low-beams. I have had these installed in my low-beam position, the last 5 days. Even though they say they’re 75W, I believe the blue colored coating on the glass is blocking the entire 75W worth of lumens from getting out. They’re only marginally brighter and certainly not anywhere close to as bright as my 60W high-beams. They say “up to 5500K” for their color. They’re actually more blue than that, IMO. As we know, the more blue, the less effective as a light source. I ended up adjusting them further down, to put more beam on the ground. The color just takes away too much of their effectiveness. I was beside a Cascadia with factory LED’s and I’d guesstimate my headlights were ~80% of those. I don’t want to say I’m dissatisfied, because they are better. I just wish the color was further down the Kelvin scale. I’m going leave them installed and casually keep looking.
