Is it normal for a Pete to constantly need to go into the shop? My husband has had his for 4 months and 4x he has had to put it in the shop. it's seriously messing us up because he's a owner operator who's usually down at a week out of every month.

Put it in the shop for what?Lepton1 Thanks this.

Need more info.
If it is an old, used truck, that was recently bought, it might have dozens of (hopefully) minor problems that have to be found and fixed before the truck will be reliable.
If it is newish and keeps going to the same shop for the same problem, it might be time to take it to a different shop.
Without more info, it's hard to say more. -
This is such an open ended question and your instructor should not be giving personal opinions on such a subject unless he/she has experience every brand/spec/combo out there .
Instructors are supposed to be objective not subjective !!
You can have two identical new scr trucks and one have tons of problems while the other has zero !!
They all have scr systems and CAN Bus nowLast edited: Jan 24, 2019

Tractor trailer? I would go with Peterbilt or Kenworth. Dump truck? I would go with Mack or Western Star quad axle and up.
