My $1000 Honda generator wouldn't start the other day. So went to Home Depot and picked up a $599 Ryobi generator til I can get the Honda in the shop back home. Staying nice and cool down here in humid Florida.

So to recap-- that's two generators for a cost of $1600 and one airconditioner $300 and one heater $50 bucks since 2011. Take pictures of the gasoline and motor oil receipts and convert to .pdf and email to my tax guy.

Is it the best solution? Maybe not, but certainly the thriftiest.

yep Transmission too.. Do you think you can spin those gears all night with no wear? the input shaft spins all the gears except the final drives so your counter shaft tis spinning and ALL the gears are spinning on a stationary main shaft.. so yes "Virginia" there is wear in the transmission as well....Edit...I'll grant any wear in the transmission is minimal (gears need a load on them...then they want to push away from each other and wear bearings..also the reason "Jake Breaks" take wear from the cheapest components (breaks) and put it into the most expensive components (engine, transmission and rears) BUT that is yet another argument..

Wouldn't take too long for a $69 a night hotel to exceed the cost of a generator!!

Planning to keep it as a backup. But the option is always there to sell it as well. I could have spent $600 on hotels and I'm out $600. Buy a generator $600 and can turn around and sell it for $550 or keep it and run it for years saving in the tens of thousands on fuel and repairs to my truck. Cook up soup and coffee, vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner,, various tools air conditioner and hurricane force fan etc.

    Terry270 Thanks this.
