You are going to be in school a while. My schooling was 4 months on weekends. And cost 2500 dollars from uncle sam. He got his money back eventually. This was in late 80's dollars. Call it 4000 today.
Spouse went to school in LR, she spent two months daily, costs close to three grand. Company paid half, forgot the other half and we charged it off. No problem.
One company I recall hiring on, orientation was delayed several months as I washed dishes in a fish fast food place every night for three months raising the savings to a few thousand before going down. That worked out well. I almost did not go down when life situations presented other oppertunites.
Best way to fund CDL training, not enough cash for upfront costs

WRIA paid for almost all of my CDL. It took 2 months to get the funding, but I got it.
As for "hand out..."
I've worked and paid taxes for 40 years. I was in fact "displaced" with my previous career out of my reach, no matter what I did. I got back roughly 1/3 of what I paid in taxes LAST YEAR ALONE to pay for CDL school. And I've paid that amount back in taxes many times over.
It's WAY cheaper to take a willing pwerson, give them some assistance in training and have them pay taxes for fprever than to have them on the welfare rolls or collecting food stamps. If WRIA had not paid for CDL school, I would have gone to work for Swift or CR England, true. But I would have paid MANY times the cost of CDL school and paid LESS taxes by a long shot. Do the math, it ain't complicated.quatto and UsualSuspect Thank this. -
