And GOOD drivers already know
1. The grass is not in fact always greener elsewhere
2. Job hopping for bonuses is kinda dumb
3. Companies offering large sign on or recruitment bonuses have a retention problem or the sign on is a mask for some other problem
Biggest signing bonus in tight labor market

I was one of the first Walmart spark drivers in my area.
They gave me $300 to take cat food to some ladies house. The base rate was $5 she gave me a $5 tip so I made $310 for a half hour of my time.
Last load I'll ever do for them
Get the bonuses and get out boys when the gettins good. -
No bus drivers here its all over the local news.
Why do bus companys pay so low , to haul around 40 kids.RubyEagle Thanks this. -
Then they put another nail in their own coffin by mandating vaccines. If you can't find good workers now, why not further limit your choices and alienate some of your current workforce?

Stopped at the local Taco Bell at noon today. Sign in the window states they are
so desperate for help they are offering a premium wage of "up to" $14 per hr. Doesn't
sound like they are trying very hard. I forgot to mention the $300 sign on bonus.
I recently switched jobs and out of all the applications I filled out one did call me back........
by a woman that had such a foreign accent that I could hardly understand her...........she couldn't
answer a single question about the company or the job........guessing even though I applied on
the company website the application is processed through some third world company recruiting
agency. I did stop in several times and called several times on a job I really wanted...........was told
they already filled the spot............checked and 4 weeks later the job opening is still listed.
Another one did send me a follow-up e-mail and claimed that they had discontinued the position
I applied for but they were offering a pay increase across the board.............problem is the new
"improved wage scale" is the same as before.
There might be a shortage somewhere..................sure doesn't seem to be much of a problem
in this area.
Three weeks on my new job......just got my first paycheck.............going good so far. It is a career change
for me so I am learning a lot..............in my old age I don't like learning new things but I do like to eat so I
do what I have to.
I am not saying much about my new job for now.....................give it a couple months and
see how it goes. But.........main reason I ended up there is their location is close to home...........good
benefits, etc..............but the biggest + up front was I was able to talk to an actual manager that was
able to answer my questions. End of that call I was told to come in for an interview and within a short
time I had a job. -
Our Burger King located in the Walmart Super Center parking lot has a sign out front saying $17/hr.

I can not stress this more, if a company is offering a signing bonus, it is an indication that they are not looking for the best drivers and have issues with retention.
I don’t offer a signing bonus, I offer opportunities to produce revenue and drive a great truck doing it with the full backing of the owner which they won’t get at most places.
I learned that what I like to see from a company isn’t what others like from a company and good/great drivers are those who tell a company what they want, not have the company tell them what they offer.bentstrider83, dwells40 and sevenmph Thank this.
