    FYI:

Hobby Lobby pays a few teenagers to drive around and boot trucks in the early hours of the morning on their side of the WalMart parking lot in Newnan, GA.

    Cost me $560 last week.

Sure signs are posted, however not everyone can read 30-point font from 30 yards away at 11pm.

It is getting to where so many places are getting too hoity, toity I am afraid. It is always a good idea to google the location you are planning to park at first if you can, a laptop is a great investment when trip planning. On the road, this is on Diplomat Parkway in front of Hobby Lobby and Walmart, are several signs that say no trucks allowed. One sign I couldn't read all of it, but it went along the lines of no loitering, solicitation, and vehicles would be towed at owners expense. The only other entrance into Walmart is Newnan Crossings Blvd, coming in from the middle side. It doesn't even look like a lot of room is on that end to park and get out again if they even allowed any parking in the lot.

Was this closer to an area of delivery? There is a Pilot on ex 47 and then in the opposite direction on that exit is a BP station with some parking. I use www.findfuelstops.com. I know there are some apps now for the phone, but this is one that I use on the laptop from home for husband. I see that it has this Walmart listed, and there is a place to leave a comment on it about the business, good or bad. Did you call Walmart to find out if it was ok to park in their lot?

This is not surprising. Many Walmart stores not allowing big truck or RV's to park on their lots. Mainly due to drivers running over curbs and destroying landscaping and leaving their trash and piss bottles all over the place. Navigator Wife made a great suggestion of calling the store first before you get there and see if they allow truck parking. Could save you $$$ in the future. Safe travels to you.

That Walmart seems to allow truck parking. The 5 other trucks parked next to me did not get booted. The youngsters informed me that it was only Hobby Lobby that contracted them to boot trucks, not Walmart.

On the way out of the lot, the same way I came in from Newnan Crossings Blvd, there is no signage whatsoever about parking. The problem is that I parked on the Hobby Lobby side and the nearest signage was too far to read at night for a driver parking between other tractor-trailers.

I've always had towers and night security bang on my door in the middle of the night. Silent booters is simply a scam.

Ok, I know that this will rile some, but there are places called Truckstops and rest areas that you can park in...
Plan your trip and you will have ample time to find a spot..
And please don't cry my elog was ready to run out or I needed to be here so I could make my pickup or delivery.. Plan ahead...

Did you contact Hobby Lobby and see if this was legit. It might have been a scam run by some kids for some quick cash

need to carry a portable grinder and bandsaw maybe one of those oxy/acetylene torch kits and when they boot you, quietly and quickly cut the boot off and take it with your then throw it away off site with no witnesses. Of course they have your info and you will be tracked down by law enforcement then you just play the stupid card, how could I be here if I had a boot on officer?

Phone number I had to call was the same as on the signage.

Truckstops are full when stopping too late and rest areas can be too far from deliveries for early appts.

Planning trips is the way to go and sometimes the plan must be to drive a later 11 hours for the course of a particular load. That means most conventional parking will be full when stopping.

The lesson in all this is simply to pay closer attention to signage.

If you believe it is good advice to only park in rest areas and truckstops, then I'm not sure that advice will be helpful to many OTR company drivers.

I think the kids were hip to that approach. As soon as I opened my door when I awoke a few hours later, they pulled right up and stayed close by thereafter...
