Good advice.
I remember living in Brooklyn it was a weekly occurrence if not more that a semi took the wrong route and drove thru the low clearance underpass. Allways was a issue but they definitely improved on a lot of things now.

Pull over and wait for another truck to pass under it

I was hammer down here in Dallas, bypassed a pilot and rounded a curve on the highway, coming to a wall of traffic that I almost plowed through. Turned out there was an oversized load parked in the third lane, and he’s out there standing in the highway making sure he clears this overpass. He was clear by like 3 #### feet or so, but getting out to look takes a few seconds. Getting a bridge strike off your record hauling OS/OD will take years; if ever.
Still remember the laugh my manager gave in my ear when I told him I was late for a delivery because there was a 12’6 bridge in my way and I had to wait for traffic so I could back out and route around it... with my mid roof daycab and pneumatic trailer at a whopping 12’4 empty, and now I’m grossed out at 84,000Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
If you hit a bridge and even if it's not marked you are going to be found responsible for repairs. I would stop right before the bridge and check to see if I will clear. If by chance I'm only a fraction of an inch I will let some air out of my tires and go on. Or shift the load if I can. Any way I would do whatever I could to get under it. If there is no way then I would call the police and explain to them and get an escort. After all if you turn around a hit some other structure you're going to pay for that one too.

I think the municipality that owns that bridge should be responsible for that damage if they are too lazy to maintain the warning signs..

Freeways should be ok, i wouldn't just assume there the right height always aire on the side of caution, before going under always stop and look that's alot easier than trying to pry out the trailer if it gets wedged under the bridge.

There is a 13' 8" RR bridge on Ohio 117 just west of Ohio 65 in Lima, OH that made me stop really fast the first time I came up to it... And I slow down for it still, even knowing that I will clear. But I rarely go that way now that I know the area a little better... I only had the company GPS for the first 2 weeks and I finally had enough of that crap and got a RM Motor Carriers Atlas. Now I'll use the GPS for a basic idea and fine tune my route with the RM, then I plug that route into the GPS so it will give me the turn by turn so I don't have to keep looking away from the road to check my notes.

That's pretty much the attitude now a days someone else is at fault..
-
So if a stop sign is missing and I drive through it and cause an accident, who is at fault?
