I am bringing my 50 lb dog out OTR for the first time. He is 6 years old and loves to ride. Besides the obvious stuff like leashes, food/water, bowls, what else would you recommend to bring that might be useful.

Also, any situations I need to think about having him with me?

If there is any chance your company could send you to CANADA be sure to have copies of the dogs up to date VET RECORDS for when you cross the border

If it were me I'd make sure I always had updated pictures of the dog, and have him microchipped. Always make sure the truck door is closed so he can't get out, and make sure he's in the cab when you're ready to roll.

I had a cat run away from home and I didn't have pictures of her, nor was she microchipped - I'm floored we got her back!

I bring vet records, shot records, something for him to do (toys, chews and his football) But dont forget things like an old towel for rain or snow and if he's a short hair and you run north, he'd appreciate a dog coat no matter how stupid it looks.

Also, in the summer bring along flea n tick treatment and extra water just in case you get stuck.

    Love running with our dog.

You won't have the truck messed with while he's in there.
Can't think of a situation you'd need him there for - unless there's a split bag when you're picking up at Purina.

Rawhide is bad for dogs if it gets soft and the dog chokes. Depending on the breed of dog a comb is needed. Nail clipped and quick stop if u clip a quick.
I would suggest a 20 ft rope to keep u r dog close but give freedom too

Bring a big stick and thump yourself on the back of your head everyday for treating that dog with cruel & unusual punishment for putting him in a cab of a truck !!!🐕🐩

For the sake of everyone else please include dog doo bags and use them...
50lbs and 6 years means you will need to consider their exit each time so that he doesn't get hurt...jumping from the cab can be an issue if he is beta to your alpha.

Oh and on the nice to know front... if you have time and your dog's shot records you can get him groomed at any Petsmart in the country. Teeth, nails, bath, clip... whatever. Love dogs.

    Hate stinky. Lol.
