Broker/Shipper left me stranded for over 24hrs on busy highway.

My guess is your on your own and hopefully can get everything worked out but I can’t believe someone would sit and wait for that long…what did you think would happen or what were you hoping for. Must have been one hell of an issue
I can tell you that if it was my truck and thier trailer I would have left it for a tow truck or dragged it somewhere after they refused to help.

Its your responsibility to get the equipment to safe spot . You couldve called the tow or repair and billed broker later. No court is going to find broker liable for this. You might be able to sue broker later on once garbage truck company is done with you if you have a signed contract that states they were responsible for calling the roadservice or tow truck .

Why did you not call a towing yourself and remove the endangerment from the public road?!

Therefore, in Illinois, they would not let you do it for too long. The state police would arrange a mandatory towing after a few hours of no resolution.
