    They were in late '20 thru early '21, partially why we have such a hard swing the other way right now.

    Yep, and those who haul cheap Amazon trash thinking they can reinvent the wheel don't know that some brokers actually get paid on percentage so the higher the rate...the more they make.

    All I’ve hauled out of Florida this year was 14+ wide to New Orleans for $5/mile and I thought that was a bit light.

    Customer paid escorts and permits.

    It worked out better than deadheading home , which was the original plan.

    There’s a little room in my head that I keep the door locked on now - the “how cheap are they posting loads for?” room.

    It stems from trauma from 2015 when I started, where I was setting load alerts at $2.40 minimum ($1.75 in the LS world) in a 500 mile range, and seeing 10 loads.

    So I’d open that door, and just get mad, then depressed.

    All locked up now.

    In 2005 I used to steer blade trailers for a $1.75 a mile While driving a Honda.

    Now you can get a Van driver to pull freight out of Florida for less.

    Broker wanted me to run this for 1700 after I quoted 19. I had to twist his arm to get it for 1750. I get to the Shipper and there's literally at least 45 trucks ahread of me in line so I cancelled. He reposted it for 2500. Stand your ground on your rates gentlemen.

    It's business. I'm not hating. But too many people are willing to starve so these guys can get paid...ALOT. Ironically, when the market turns again those same fools will still not charge more than they normally could to recoup what they lost during the down turn. That's why many of them never see more than one down cycle. They're usually bankrupt before it ends due to what the broker agents in this thread shows.
