In this business you have a choice. You can spend the time and effort soliciting your own direct customers or you can rely on brokers.

You guys are way off track, we don't need to threaten brokers, we need to get rid of them. They don't carry the same associated risks is the real problem. They are expecting people to empathize with them as we can't afford to go home, while many of them work from home (a nice one at that). Time to stop making threats and time to start seeking the kingdom of heaven. An honest place where we already know that number we'll be getting before we even call, and remove the deceit period.

When there is no longer a need for brokers the market will relegate them into the dust bin of history. Until that happens there is most certainly a need for them.
Now a driver like me who works 100% with brokers. I am not the reason they have a job. I will be just as happy to bid loads via email direct from a shipper or some jazzy smartphone app. I will ditch brokers in a heartbeat. My loyalty is to whoever is paying the rate.
When someone comes up with the app that takes the place of a broker effectively I will embrace it. When or if customers see value in that sort of tool whoever developed it will become rich beyond their wildest dreams. Just a middleman by another trendy name. Until such time as that happens I work with what is out there. That's just how it goes.pigeon river trucking and scottlav46 Thank this. -

The people I see complaining on here about brokers are the ones that have no idea what it takes to make a sale. They aren't knocking on doors, scheduling appointments to offer services, wining and dining, etc. Skip the brokers and go direct, but you have to get out of the truck and solicit, or hire a salesperson. Hint: unless you have quite a few trucks, the salesperson is going to be more expensive than the broker.
How do customers find you? How do you find customers? Do you even network, bro? What's your website look like and when's the last time you updated it. How often do you send out email blasts, promotions, etc. You realize you're in a super competitive business right? ORRRR, do you just want to hold a steering wheel and have someone else do the hard work and complain about how much they make?Viceroy1, spyder7723 and DUNE-T Thank this. -

I see your point of view but I would think its easier to deal with 5 brokers rather than 40 carriers
