Ok. Was told today that it is front facing only at this time. Inside only if warranted by traffic issues. We can tape over it if it makes us feel better. So I’m sticking around and see how it goes.

I’m glad my company hasn’t considered them so far. Heck, they even quit ordering new trucks equipped with that front bumper radar crap.

Except most of the companies putting them in are self insured, so the only thing they save on might be on a settlement amount in a lawsuit. I had a 24/7 camera in my Wy-Moore truck and it did more good than harm and covered our collective arses in any kind of crash investigation and helps keep the driver from being falsely accused if there is a crash.

Even self insured companies have insurance coverage that kicks in at a certain level of judgment.

True but you still have the liability premiums to deal with and insurance companies love the new tech, especially that AI powered coaching crap.

Like many out here one of the things that will end my driving career is a driver facing camera system, I really don’t see how you can have those and allow drivers to talk on the phone, or eat, or so many other little things we tend to do over the course of an 11 hr day. Sure they can overlook it for a time, but then someone smacks a car and injures people and suddenly everything changes…

When i was with sni, i was informed that sni’s attys advised them against inward facing cams because of ambulance chasing attys looking for any ridiculous excuse to nail a company.

Well my back is healed up and I got a release to return to work yesterday. Today I had to go get a new CDL physical before I can go back. Its done and im good for another year, yay me. And I just found out that Ryders Contract was not renewed and we are taking over the entire account. We are going to hire the better drivers from Ryder and continue to hire locally too. Also I may be finally getting a dedicated run closer to home. Will find all of this out when I do finally get back to Shelbyville.

That's good news....Ryder does a ton of Automotive freight everywhere from what I've seen. Lots of freight over in your area for sure.
U should be able to get on a good paying dedicated account near u.
I would bet alot of the runs will get u home everynight or day....

Well I'm back to work and big changes happened while I was gone. Yes Ryder is gone. We are hiring 14 of their drivers on May 1st. and hiring off the street too. I'm out of the LT and back in a Cascadia again. Also one of our rentals and will be out of it in August when our next shipment of new trucks come in. Probably cheap arse LTs again but by then I will be down to only a few months left. There is a new temp company working out of the yard too. M and M out of Louisville. Conestoga trailers. Purported to be paying 85cpm. Not confirmed.
The local job did not pan out. Is a flatbed only position requiring chaining and unchanging of the load at both ends and tarping on every load. Too much for this old man. But I have a new work schedule. Work my 70, take a 34 in the hotel, work another 70 and then go home for 5 days. That is OK by me.
