Burlington Motor Carriers (BMC) stranded me in Joplin,MO

After i was banned from DDS (see seprate thread) in May of 96 I hopped on a bus going to oreintation for BMC in Joplin ,MO with no money. BMC was the biggest recruiter out that school. The guy who recruited for them (Dan) was there every class and pre hired about 20 students each time. In fact they had to split us up some went to Daleville,IN the rest to Joplin.
I had to take an earlier bus and got in to Joplin around 5am sunday instead of in the afternoon. I had the info I needed when I got to the bus terminal. BMC would provide the ride to the Holiday Inn, was changed because the first hotel was damaged in a small tornado recently. When I told the clerk I was here for BMC with out hesitation said I'll call your ride to the hotel. Never thinking twice when a taxi pulled up. I ended up getting a tour of the town and share a part of the ride with one of his morning regulars, when we got at the hotel he said that's $5. I was shocked and embareassed because I was told that ride would be provided for me and I had no money on me. After explaining that to him and trying to give him a check he let me go.
When I was checking in the clerk got upset a chewed me out for getting there so early becuase none of the rooms were ready yet. They ended giving me a private room with a king size bed on the 1st floor. the only meal that was provided during the week long orientation was the free breakfeast at the hotel. Not having any money for food or cigerettes didnt take long for me to go hungary and having nic fits. To try to keep my mind off of it and not having a room mate I would spend my free time at the pool or steam room. when I wasn't snipe hunting or walking the hall ways at night looking for left over pizzas.
During that time, not being in my right mind and alomost a thousand miles away from home, I eneded up doing something to a female guest that I thought was just flirting. She complained to the hotel who told BMC and on Wednesday morning I was kicked out the hotel and BMC drove me to the bus staion and left me there.
I ended up at the rescue mission, soul harbor, that afternoon. I worked odd jobs and in a week I got in good with the manager of the willard and main apts. next store and worked for him until july when i was going to my next driving job orientation. On my first solo trip to Sawunee, GA with that company I ran into a lady driver who was at my BMC orientation but this time she was with O&S. I asked her about BMC and she told me after a month there she was fired for driving with flip flops on. Also I found out that they told everybody in that class what i did..
