You ran a business for 10 years and you only have 42 grand ??
Just doesn’t sound overwhelmingly successful to me. I know carpenters with more money than that.
There are a zillion things that can go wrong. One expensive engine repair and you’re out of business. Or even a cheap repair and have you heard of the parts shortage, you could be sitting for weeks earning zero while the bills keep coming in. That’s just the business end.
Then there’s DOT, we sue trucker billboards, e-logs, you have no experience have you ever had the computer ticking down and you can’t find a parking spot, or had a flat tire on a 2 lane road with no shoulder ?
Go read the trucking accidents board sometime as well.
This isn’t nearly as easy as you think it’s gonna be. But I wish you luck.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -

Stepping Out With My Own Numbers

I started out of the gate as an O/O with my own authority in 2012. Fuel prices were outrageous, but I was quite fortunate to get on with a good broker who was kind of new to his career as well. He had been a trucker before, and he paid very well. I was making very good revenue pretty much from the start. All was well until my C13 broke a ring. I had been running my own courier business for 13 years prior to this, but I hate to admit that I was spending way too much of my money, right up to the day that my C13 needed a rebuild. I assumed that my bank would loan me the money that I needed for both an overhaul and new tires for my entire rig. Hahaha....NOPE!
I ended up selling my rig, taking a very humbling job for 9 months, and then partially reviving my former courier business. It was a long and painful lesson in money management, but I managed to get back in the saddle again.
It can be done, but make sure that you’re on God’s good side, stay humble and disciplined, and do not get too comfortable when you think that you have a nice nest egg sitting there.Tug Toy, Shackdaddy, simpatico and 2 others Thank this.
