I have an NTC 400. Currently has the Cummins c-brake c14B. I have another NTC 400 with Model 430 Jake brake housings. I was hoping to swap the 430 with the original C14b. I'm will be rebuilding the Cummins C14b brake, but I was hoping to swap and be able to use truck in meantime. The Jake 430 has housings that require some spacers, but otherwise it looks all the same. Do any of you see any problems with doing this? I was actually hoping to swap only one housing. Thanks

Jimmy is pretty familiar with those engines - he’ll chime in shortly.

Instead of me throwing out some uninformed idea, it’s better to tag a hand that’s probably fooled with it before.
I went through a PAC brake to Jake conversion on my 12.7 , but it’s not relevant.

Let’s start here, just because it will bolt on doesn’t always mean we should. I honestly don’t know much about the old C brakes, other than my experience was a Jake would hold better….

@OLDSKOOLERnWV posted the same info i have.
The funny thing about the jake models for the old engines is they have rendered 10 to 15 old model numbers obsolete and condensed the parts into two different kits now. So its even more confusing when you have an old set of boxes. My ‘74 350 still has its model 20’s on it. They were rebuilt in 2009 with the 425A kit. I think that is now obsolete.

    Been many years since I drove a truck with C brakes, that was a 1988 K100 with a 365 Cummins….

The 425A is what I run still today.

Mine like a couple other models use the rubber O-ring on the oil supply to the Jake solenoid, where others use a gasket….

Thanks for the replies. I did look up the proper Jake brake model. My cpl is 1211 which refers to model 430. I feel confident of proper fit because it came off of an identical engine. Just wanted to check to make sure that there aren't any things I should check on or if anybody has done something like this? I'm going to go ahead and try it. Its been hard tracking down parts for the C Brake models. Any suggestions on a good supplier? Doesn't look like they make kits so I have to order individual parts. I just need to deliver some loads to keep cash flow going.
