I have a small fleet of Columbia and Cascadia's. I change out the cab air filters in the Spring and the Fall using the white pleated units. About $10 each from the dealer.

I recently saw these Cab Air Filter for Freightliner 2002+ | Truck Air Filters | Rig Tough Trucks and Parts installed on a used Cascadia I just got. They are a lot tougher then the white flimsy pleated ones. I found this when I looked up the part number online:
    • Manufactured to exacting standards that meet or exceed OEM requirements
    • May be washed and reused to extend filter life
    • Antibacterial
    • Air straightening and acceleration improves air flow
    • 3,000 - 4,000 service hours (100,000+ miles)
    • 2 to 3 times the life of ordinary pleated filter
    • Non-clogging characteristics maintain "like-new" performance
If the specs are correct, then I should be able to replace the filters only once a year. The cost for the filter is about double but the savings in time and effort would be a blessing.

I had one before. They last a lot longer than that. I think I got three years, just wash it out and good to go.

Id get it but who's going to wash them out? If youre doing all the maintenance yourself Id definitely get it but you can't expect drivers taking care of your equipment for you.

The only reason I would do it is so I wouldn't have to touch them for a year. I'd gladly pay twice the cost so I could replace it just once a year.

There are also activated carbon versions. If you want real clean air.

I'm just looking to replace less often than once a year.

A good cabin filter is for the drivers benefit. Ya id expect him to take a few minutes to wash it every couple months. If he can't be bothered then its sicko a cheap oem one inn it and he can dije on the dust the oem filter lets in. Or better yet, find a real driver and not some snowflake

    Seriously?

If they are paper you don't wash them out. That's a great way to grow mold.

I pay $15 for Baldwins in bulk, they are used on almost all of my trucks. I have them replaced every year at the annual maintenance check, no exceptions. It is part of the maintenance and is CHEAP to replace.

If you are worrying about pennies, then you ain't going to make the bucks.

As I said, I change them twice a year, as recommended. I'd rather pay more for a different filter that I can change once a year instead. I was asking for opinions on the specific alternative filter I mentioned.

The Baldwin's should be changed every 6 months, why are you penny pinchigp?

Im not being cheap, this is the hd filter and it lasts longer than any other one. We've tested different ones and this seems to work the best.

It retails for $27, I'm getting them for $15 by the case.

    Oldironfan and tallmon Thank this.
