Mapquest will allow you to drop pins on state borders along a route. You can convert them to "route stops," and it will calculate the distance between the pins on your route.

Buy a cobra GPS. it keep track of all your miles by state.

Then there's the old school way.
Write down your odometer miles beginning of trip and every time you cross a state border you write that number down and subtract it from the original number you wrote down. Then the next state border crossed write down odo miles traveled in that state and subtract from last state's crossing odo miles.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
If you don't want to be writing 'n driving, get a digital voice recorder. Just record the odometer readings.
The easiest way? Download it from a trucking specific GPS. -
Those voice recorders are bad a for making a list going down the road when your thinking. Stop later and write it all down. Good tip ironpony.
