They do hire from there. We have a driver that lives in Cocoa and Melbourne. I just spoke to Mort and they will hire from there at this time. It might change but right now they are.

I spoke with Mort. He said everything is looking good with your app. I'm headed home. If you have any questions just ask.

The pre hire list is almost complete. I am excited!

Accomplished the road test with Bob yesterday. He filled in some details and then worried me with his miles. Apparently being out of Kent, Wa causes him to have a 900 mile week twice a month. Yikes. I stay out longer than he does so I hope I avoid that.

I had a filling fallout this morning so I am stuck at the dentist till they can work me in. After I escape, I'll get the drug test part finished.

Since my long form was completed 5/20/11 by an MD at my county health dept, Mort said I will not need another.

Mort also said a truck will be open in a week or two, so it will be a matter of finding someone I can hitch a ride (team?) to PA with. I will not need much space as most of my truck supplies are in a storage unit in Santa Fe Springs/Norwalk, Ca.

JohnBoy New to the forum. Just wanted to give you shout out. Been Reading the thread from the begining. Really cool that when things don't go as plan, you always find a way to make things work. I think thats the key thing when driving a truck. JohnBoy hurry home so you can catch the heat/mavs game tonight.

Mission accomplished. It was a bit chaotic as the testing location could not find the fax from Calex. Then they had the DoT chain of custody but not the billing form. I pulled out cash to pay for services and magically another form could be used. Then the fax sent was missing snail mail addresses for the two places the results were to be mailed and the secretary had ignored it until I arrived. The MA came out a third time to tell me no address could be found and I whipped out my internet phone. Then the TB test could not be done as they would not be open to read it on Sat. I showed her the sign on the wall listing places that were open. Sounds just like a shipper snafoo, sometimes life imitates trucking...

Welcome to our little world. Ahh the life of an OTR truck driver, you either love it or hate it. I'm still trying to figure it out, after 30 years.

Life does imitate trucking, very much so. Keep in touch with Mort about the truck becoming available. They have been known to fly people in.

They do. I live in Lake Worth. In fact I just asked Mort the other day if there was a need in Florida for a driver and he said yes. Just to add a little something, they are very picky with who they hire so if you are going to apply make sure all the little duckies are in a row.
