They also drain the Colorado river for water so badly that the river no longer reaches the ocean.

MGE Dawn and sdaniel Thank this.

McDs went to paper straws across the pond in the U.K. They announced that the new paper straws don't recycle well so advised people to just throw them in the trash.
McDonald's paper straws cannot be recycled

MGE Dawn, Oxbow, sdaniel and 1 other person Thank this.

Most of Ca's water come from the Sierras not Colorado, A lot of the Colorado River is being used in NV to support Las Vegas and surrounding communities. A good bit of the water does go down into the southern desert for the growth of hay.

Not exactly true. The Colorado river supplies a number of cities, Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and yes, Las Vegas, plus a hand full more.

Las Vegas only gets a small division of the water, about 2 percent, the rest comes from other sources and some of the strictest conservation laws.

L.A gets more water than Las Vegas.

Most of the river water goes into southwest desert regions for agricultural use, primarily Southern California.

    sdaniel and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

The funny thing is that switching back to paper bags and paper towels (straws too, I guess), and STOPPING the recycling of paper would be one of the best ways to put carbon back underground like climate change folks want, without destroying many jobs.

Most paper plants could change from recycled paper inputs to wood pulp inputs without much trouble.
