The new speed limits and the GPS on the QC have not caught up yet. Some day maybe. I think as far as I know, AR, IL, OH where they have raised it still showing the old one, but then in those states, company truck can not even do the old one

if u told a driver 20 yrs ago that owner ops at landstar would have electronic logs they wouldv said ur crazy, how do you keep a driver from lying on his logs, u mandate elogs, how do u keep a driver from lying on elogs (saying hes in the sleeper when hes not) you mandate cameras, good news tho, if a truck hits you or you hit a truck you can have the video brought up and im sure you would find somthin, said he did pre trip, hmmm dont see hood ever lifted on camera, said he was in sleeper, oh there he is talking to his buddy on the camera, falsifying his elogs, busted. the chip idea may sound crazy but i wouldnt give them any ideas, although i believe their just gonna cut there own throat. its just my opinion but i think the whole country is in the process of cutting its own throat. dont worry be happy

In 20 years I am guessing 40% to 50% of workers now will not have a job robots will be takeing there jobs. Hell right now they testing driverless trucks give it 20 years. And the need for human drivers will be cut by 60% my guess

Times change with technology, and so do jobs.

20 years from now... a lot of people will be working in a different field by choice, and not only because of new advancements that made an old job obsolete.
20 years from now is so far into the future that no one can say where or what they will be doing.
20 years from now I'll likely be dead, and not a trucker in any case even if I am still alive.

The sewing machine made a lot of people find a new line of work.
Heck, the wheel probably made a few jobs obsolete.

$15 bucks an hour to flip a burger? If they can build a robot to weld cars on the factory line 24 hours a day, you don't think they can build a robot to slap beef patties on the grill with other robots squirting special sauce on the buns and wrapping it up? Already have self pay kiosks in some fast food joints, just walk up and touch the screen with the burger picture and drink picture of your choice then swipe your card.

I read something to that effect a couple weeks ago. It is already happening.
It should be a lot easier to fully automate a fast food joint than it would be to make a fully automated truck.

And the problems are a lot less in an automated food place.
Some people go hungry for a bit, versus a lot of people dying from the crash.

Just think of all the companies that will create.

To design, build, maintain those robots.

And of course all the ancillary jobs within those companies.... Shipping, receiving, parts department, janitors, HR, admin, etc.

Sacrifice burger flippers for opportunity like that... Seems reasonable to me.

Kinda like, why is that not already happening??

    Well, don't forget I Robot.
    Robots designing and building robots.

There will be little call for all the ancillary jobs within those companies, if those companies are automated as well.

I took a mentor class this week at one of our terminals. The person that taught the class also worked in the safety department. He was a pretty straight forward guy and said that even though Swift does not sit and watch live feed, the third party company does. They will watch until you do something wrong.

The shop tried to put a camera on my truck while I was there. Luckily I was already dispatched on a load out of there.
