Covid caused everyone to flood into trucking, now we have too many trucks, trailers, drivers, and low freight rates. Now we are waiting for those to leave the industry. Also, the imports have started to shrink so that reduces trucking some. It's not permanent.

It's just as bad in Indiana.
18 years clean experience here with all endorsements and I'm in the same boat as you.
Interviewed two weeks ago for a union driving position and was told they had 9 other candidates interviewing for that one opening. Unfortunately didn't get the job.201, Iamoverit, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this. -

Another thing to consider here is that when the economy is doing poorly some unscrupulous companies will try to replace their high paid employees with guys that will work for much less with the same or better qualifications.
Kind of like when low balling brokers will post a load for half of what they usually get it moved for hoping somebody will bite and take it. They lose nothing by posting that load but have lots to gain when/if someone hauls it.snowlauncher Thanks this. -
Suggestion: look in a market where your odds are much better -- try regional, instead.
Here -- you are most likely home weekly:
Walmart Transportation -- Lewiston, Maine
Another advantage here: it's a private fleet -- so a lot of the headaches the rest of the industry is facing -- you will totally miss.

I had a little more trouble than usual too it seemed like a couple months ago. I had a big gap in my class A driving resume but honestly don’t think that made a big diff. There just wasn’t a whole hell of a lot out there that looked even remotely appealing. One other guy did get back to me with an out-and-back M-F deal after I’d taken the road job, but I’m not much a fan of local work and the stupid hours that come with it. I ain’t a 3am guy.
